As we know it, Jordin Sparks is the new American Idol – as expected. People are shifting votes from Melinda to Jordin, leaving Blake as the unfortunate fellow. What I really like about the American Idol final is that we get to see Simon Cowell dressed up quite elegantly. Well that’s all for me about American Idol. As for the other final – the UEFA Champions League final, as predicted AC Milan won. Kudos to Inazaghi for his great goals. Sure enough Italians are the reigning world champions.
Pardon me for the late review for this episode. No thanks to procrastination, I only did this although I had this episode early this week. To add insult to injury, this is my second attempt of this review because the first one was lost while my laptop unexpectedly shutdown. The cause? Out of battery while my laptop was not plugged and I did not turned on the hibernate option for my power settings. Consequence? Lost this review and forced me to rewrite another one. Sigh! As far as the story goes, the plot tends to go on a downward path – indicating a boring story development. However the conclusion of this episode proved me wrong, in addition to an introduction of a new character Another particular difference in this episode is that posterized pencil-coloured effect for the freeze moments (I’ll show it later). It’s a notable feature – which is good.

The Red Whirlwind came to save the day
Lancelot clad in the Red Whirlwind suit, jumped onto the wooden cage in front of the crowd and demanded the soldiers to release the falsely accused prisoners as he offered himself to the authority. He told the Carabinieri (the soldiers) that they should pledge themselves to protect the people instead of harming them. This sparked a protest among the crowd. One of the standby archers lost it and shot at Lancelot. With that, Lord Cerimon agreed to set the prisoners free. However he wanted to kill the Red Whirlwind and unmask him before doing so. With a heroic gesture, Lancelot raised the fire arrow and said that the Red Whirlwind will vanish and a new hope will rise and asked to the people to keep faith onto their hopes for freedom. He then dropped the fire arrow into the oil-soaked straw below, engulfing a huge flame around him. Surely enough he is dead.

Death by the flame
Juliet wanted to save Lancelot but was stopped by Curio and Francisco. Everyone watched helpless. However with the purported death of the Red Whirlwind, the crowd grieved the loss. Romeo who flew by, noticed the fire and went to investigate. Lord Cerimon told Romeo that the commotion was caused by the death of the Red Whirlwind. Romeo was shocked by the news, obviously by his thoughts of Juliet being the Red Whirlwind. He flew back when he spotted Juliet with Cordelia approaching her. As he landed to Juliet, Cordelia hid away. Romeo expressed his relief that Juliet is safe because he had certainly thought that the Red Whirlwind is Juliet. Upon hearing this, Juliet told Romeo that they can never meet each other again. Asked why, Juliet took off her wig and confessed that she is the real Red Whirlwind. With that, she jumped off the balcony to the bridge below and ran away.

The special effect that I had mentioned earlier – quite impressive

The next day in the aftermath of the incident, Benvolio told Romeo of his father Mayor Vittorio planning to discharge the Carabinieri General, Lord Cerimon for his action to attempt burning innocent people to death. Romeo wanted to tell Benvolio that Romeo was not dead but then kept mum about it. During the Lords Council meeting, Grand Duke Montague had proposed a new law to give authority to the soldiers to punish the rebellious civilians and to form a vigilante group that will report directly to the Carabinieri. This new law is supposedly to bring order to the chaotic Neo Verona following the Red Whirlwind’s death. The Duke also expected the motion to be passed unanimously. However Vittorio voiced his objections to the ruling as the law will extend the existing martial law, provoking further resentments towards the Carabinieri. Furthermore, forming those vigilantes will split the people to two faction, one opposing and the other supporting the Carabinieri. Duke Montague then answered back by saying that strict discipline is need to maintain order to Neo Verona. Saying that Mayor Vittorio becoming an ally to the townspeople, he stripped off Vittorio’s noble status. The whole council agreed with Montague’s decision. Later Romeo questioned his father for stripping nobility from Vittorio and he replied that nobles must show strength at that time.

Vittorio, formerly known as a nobleman Mayor Vittorio
Juliet was on the way to pay homage to Lancelot’s family along with Antonio, Curio and Francisco. And there is some comic relief here. Meanwhile Vittorio and his family are about to leave the Keep when the guards stopped them for inspection. Then Romeo came with Celio (as usual) and wished Benvolio goodbye. They remained friends and Benvolio’s family left. Good timing, Romeo. The guards did not even have the chance to check on Vittorio’s carriage. At Lancelot’s residence, Lancelot’s wife had already packed their belongings as they decided to move out of the city, away from the chaos. She told her children that their father had to stay behind to take care of the patients. I was not sure if she knew if her husband is dead already. Francisco gave her some money and told her to go north as the guards there are more kind. Then she told Juliet to keep the wind blow and that “he” is still alive inside her. I’m sure that “he” is referred to Lancelot and probably she knew that her husband is dead. Still, that remains unanswered.

On their way back, Juliet wondered why Lancelot’s wife did not blame her as Lancelot died in her place. Curio reminded Juliet that Lancelot entrusted everything to her and at that dire time, Lancelot truly became the Red Whirlwind. Suddenly they encountered a mysterious man and the man flashed his crest to them, indicating that he is their ally. The man informed them that Vittorio and his family will be assassinated, likely with orders from the Duke and disguised the murder as a robbery. Juliet and the rest responded to save them. At night, Vittorio’s wife lamented of their misfortune. Vittorio and Benvolio cheered her up. All of the sudden, the carriage rattled to a halt. Vittorio tried to keep his family calm and peeked out to the driver of the situation. Then a dagger came through hole and injured Vittorio’s shoulder. They tried to escape but they were completely surrounded by a group of soldiers (not the Carabinieri though). Just when things looked bad, Juliet stormed the scene with Curio and Francisco in order to save Vittorio and his family. The assassin saw them running to escape and threw a dagger at Vittorio. Juliet saw this and blocked the dagger from hitting Vittorio but Juliet lost her footing and fell. The assassin decided to kill Juliet first before dealing with Vittorio. Fortunately luck was at Juliet’s side. A Pegasus flew over them and Juliet thought it was Romeo. Even I thought that it was Romeo. Apparently it’s not. It was a another man – the new character as I mentioned earlier.

Bad boys… what you gonna do when they come for you?

Juliet showed her skills in ballet

Romeo?

Not Romeo?
With the appearance of the spy and the man with the Pegasus at the end of the episode, the producer managed to keep interest of the viewers to this story. Unknown allies to the Capulet family has appeared, giving new hopes for them overthrow the Montague family. Here is my intuition to this new character. This guy will probably fall over Juliet but Juliet did not respond to him as she is in love with Romeo. It will be more interesting if this man is a rival to Romeo. However all of this is just my speculation on how the story will proceed later on. Indeed, Romeo x Juliet is getting better.
