It doesn’t feel like a D3, looks and feels better than a D2 but still not as good as A3, looks like it’s filling the gap in between its cousins D2 and A3. The resolution of 480×272 is an improvement over the 320×240 on D2 but below that of 800×480 of Cowon A3, screen is 3.3′, slightly less than that of ipod touch. That and the AMOLED screen means much better battery life of 40 hours for music. I also see bluetooth, wonder what’s the use really…hmmm, data transfer from laptop to S9 without cable? We also do not know the supported formats for music and movies. Comes only in black so far, does anyone feel that it looks like KG Ks20 or secret? What about the capacity hm? T-DMB Tuner whatever? Uhm k. Bonus. No speakers unlike O2.

Olala! Looks very much like a successor to Cowon A3 but the naming is off. Why O2? Because we can’t live without it once we get our hands on it?

Supported formats:

Codec supports looks VERY impressive so far (Let’s hope H.264 is better improved?), no information on the container though (I hope there’s mkv). Additional codecs for music added from Cowon A3. If archos get a A for codec for support, Cowon deserves an A+. HOWEVER, with such a wonderful video codec support, one wonders why this O2 is on sale at 8/16/32GB size. OH PLS, ipod touch shouldn’t be the standard you should follow cowon! Only consolation is that there will be a SD card slot but from experience, memory sticks make it a pain in the ass to navigate. T-DMB Tuner whatever? Uhm k. Bonus. Speakers included just like A3.

Someone tell me what the heck is shadow touch button and uh SIRF III for GPS? Hmm, other than L3 classified as a GPS navigating device, O2 and S9 are not classified yet. Not much info about the specifications for this device but I doubt people will be lugging it around for the video playback nor music playback functionality.

Overall comments:

Still too early to say but I am still pretty impressed by the concept behind Archos IMT although codec wise, Cowon O2 looks like a winner. An exciting quarter of the year for video buffs wanting a piece of their video collections on their portable devices!
