Hetalia Axis Powers episode 5

As the 5th episode of this slightly racist anime appears you have to wonder how certain people are taking this show, bar the Koreans obviously. Is there some Italian chap sitting at his computer feeling very hurt and saying ‘not every Italian likes pasta you know’. Except he’s saying this in Italian. And he has a slice of pizza halfway to his mouth. Well he should be happy because at least his country has a Hetalia character…nobody cares about Ireland…

Spring 2009 anime season preview

Ah, the Spring Season of Anime. A lo’ and behold there’s barely any bloody sequels! For once I can look at a preview and not keep having to say ‘haven’t seen first season, won’t watch’. So really we should be basking in the glory of all these new shows we get to enjoy. Are you all looking forward to all these grand new shows to watch and completely ignoring any sequels about a certain short blonde fellow with  rather unusual limbs?

Hetalia Axis Powers episode 4

Episode 4 is an episode devoted to our dear friend Japan, the third member of the Axis Powers. However when I say devoted, I mean a Hetaliased version of devoted. That means we get half the episode with Japan, the rest is taken up with chibitalia, the closing song and a completely pointless next episode preview.

Ah, finally Hetalia is onto the part of history I actually know far more about: pre WWII. So instead of random musings on historical conflict and occasional insults directed towards the Koreans, I can now actually talk about the episode in far more detail.

Disclaimer: I don’t actually know what’s going on either. These are just me taking educated guesses based on my historical knowledge. The only person who really knows what’s going on is the author himself.

Hetalia Axis Powers episode 2

There seems to be a thought going round that Hetalia the anime is simply for the fans of the manga. Well let me present exibit A: Scamp.  I’ve never read the manga and I bloody love this show. The other belief is that you need to be a bit of a history buff to fully understand the political satire that is taking place. So is this true?
