I’ve noticed that the studio likes taking a break from those constant action-filled episodes every now and then. And that’s exactly what we have here. So, instead of Super-Tomo and his trusty sidekick Misao, we get to witness the lovely (and hilarious) bonding time between Tomo and Kanade. And if any of you think that Japanese girls are all shy and too scared to hit-on or flirt with guys, well then you’re probably right. But I do know that in this episode we see very clearly that shy girls like Kanade will still get what they want even if they don’t say a single word. Scary isn’t it? When you start to realize how powerful women REALLY are. *shiver*
I remember back in the day when I would watch those old Japanese ninja movies, and sometimes even anime with ninjas, and one thing I’ve noticed is how ninja cloths have drastically changed over the years. This episode starts out with a group of ninjas breaking in the Takatsuki Family house. We’re not exactly sure why, but we know they want to kill Kanade’s father. Yet, watching these scenes I couldn’t get my mind off the fact that these are the best damn looking ninjas I have ever seen. In Naruto they all look like a bunch of kids that just came back from show-in-tell at school, Afro Samurai looks like a puff ball that got thrown in the mud, the guys from Bleach look like a bunch of color-blinds who only wear black and white dresses, and even in DTB season 2 Hei looks like your everyday bum that bought himself a strait jacket, but these ninjas… Oh, but these ninjas… No, these guys are classy. The kill you wearing a suit and tie and never get blood stains.
In the beginning of Season 1 of Asura Cryin’ we were introduced to Misao as a girl which used to be Tomo’s best friend but now is a ghost that follows him around. Later on we discovered that she actually died and became a burial doll which Tomo can use to summon Kurogane. In this season, number 2, we first are shown that in the first stage world Tomo did in fact have a close relationship with Misao, even to the point of saying that he loves her. Yet, we understand that in the Second stage world, which is the current, they don’t think of each other that way anymore. But then we can tell that Misao starts to grow a closer relationship with Tomo, (in the scenes where Misao tells Tomo that she knows the danger of whittling away if he uses Kurogane, and she lays on his shoulder to comfort him. I think its in episode 4), and by then we notice that Kanade is wanting a closer relationship with Tomo as well. But before we go further, we also have to remember episode 3, when we see that Misao clearly gets jealous of Kanade for flirting with Tomoharu.
So after all that we’ve seen, I thought I had it all understood. But this episode just made me very confuzled, lol. I’m not sure about you guys, but I seem to be getting very mixed messages about whether or not Misao likes Tomo. She really seemed jealous of Kanade after Misao saw her mouth-feeding BBQ to Tomo. But even though Tomo and Kanade both are tied together practically the whole episode and end up doing things that are rather naughty (picture above) Misao not one scene shows any sign of jealousy, or even a “Boy, I wish I was tied to that sexy beast.” Haha, I made myself laugh after that one, . I hope they sort that out, and at least not leave it hanging around.
So, as we watch Tomo and Kanade “Ichi, Ni” all around the school, we also watch Takuma suffer through a cruel day with Reishirou. Aw, don’t they look just so cute together.
I love it when they dedicate an episode solely to make us laugh. This scene is probably my favorite out of the whole episode, because it shows that no matter who you are, or what huge machine you control, or what super powers you have, a teenage boy will always be a girl-loving nose-bleeding shower-peeping teenage boy. OK, maybe one boy out of a trillion will be well behaved, XD. I bet my nose would bleed after I herd Misao say those thing like, “So that’s where you start washing?!” Geeze!
If I’m not mistaken, doesn’t a nose bleed refer to being aroused, plainly put when you get horny? So why the Fu** does Takuma get a nose bleed whens he’s in a sauna full of naked guys?!
So after we watch the curse of the three-legged race fall upon both Tomo and Takuma we get to see how strong Kanades father really is. We also see the sad consequence an Akuma has to deal with if they get together with someone. Points for Seven Arcs for a pretty decent fighting scene, especially making it somewhat funny since Kanade had to carry Tomo while she flew through the air while fighting.
Here it is, the first evidence that Naotaka even exists. Actually, at first I thought that this grave could have been something from the First Stage world, BUT I forgot that anything from the FS world was left in ruins. So this grave can only be from this Second Stage world, yet that only leaves us with one question, “Who was it that saved Tomoharu in episode 4?”
This was a pretty fun episode. I can hardly wait for the next one, and I hope they finally explain who that ice chick really is. Maybe they’ll answer some unanswered questions, but judging by the way Asura Cryin’ is they’ll probably leave us with even more questions then last time, XD.
