Quality writing in anime, why I love Bakemonogatari and why Shonen annoys me

 

Recently, a friend of mine told me that he was going to watch Kamisama no Memo-Chou, and I, having watched 5 episodes and dropped it, decided to tell him that it really wasn’t very good. I told him about how I thought the first episode was pretty great, with solid writing and an impressive sense of style, and how I initially thought it would be a much better show than I thought it would be beforehand, but it squandered much of its potential, becoming fairly repetitive and dull. Somehow, among him getting pissed off at me for dropping it before the ending, and me recommending some other shows he should watch instead, he asked me if I liked Naruto, to which I responded that no, I actually kinda hate it.

Top Ten Anime of 2009

I got an early present for y’all – the final anime list is one day early.  YAY consider it a present for those of you who read this blog daily.  And after a long year of anime, we finally come to the final list.  The best anime of the year can only go to the best, meaning all qualities of the anime must be good.  Are you ready for the ultimate list?

Honorable Mentions (meaning they did not make the list but they’re worth trying out):

Canaan

Incredible graphics, yet disappointing storyline.  This could’ve easily won the best anime had it not been for the standing plot.

Shangri-La!

Good aspects all around, but the others were better.

Zan Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei

Comedy with random facts of society, life, and people – you either love this or hate this.  And I personally love it.

Senjougahara finally appears in the final episode. And boy did she end it in a Bang! Actually let me rephrase that to say she ends it in a Gasp and a Moan. lol

Any-who, Hitagi starts out by asking, *Cough excuse me, I mean demanding that Araragi go out on a date with her. Wow, gentle much? Well, thats what I love so much about her, Strait forward. OK maybe she is a little too much. So, willingly, Araragi accepts her offer only believing that his dream was about to come true.

As there in the car (accompanied by Hitagi’s father driving), Araragi is feeling extremely tense (hence the situation with the father) and a bit sad because he thinks that his dreams have sunk rock-bottom. Ignoring that, he strikes the question to Senjougahara, (no I’m not referring to her father), “Why is Kanbaru so Kinky?”. As she is surprised to know what he thinks about her, she explains that it’s probably only the way men think. BUT WAIT! Here comes the good part…
