Code Geass R2 episode 06

Shocked to hear Nunnally on the other side of the phone call, Lelouch was fortunate enough to have Rollo nearby when he uses his Geass to stop Suzaku and allows him to talk to Nunnally as enough time as Rollo is capable of. Yes, the weakness in Rollo’s Geass is the time limit, which is nothing significant in my terms. More after the jump.

After the time limit, Lelouch pretends to be a stranger to Nunnally. While this convinces Suzaku that Lelouch have not regained his memory back, this however makes Nunnally thinking if there is anything wrong her brother and Suzaku. Meanwhile General Upson convinced Guilford that the new Governor-General Nunnally will be safe in his hands. It was then Lloyd and Cecile join them, to Upson’s displease. In Luoyang at the Chinese Federation, the young empress of the Federation is chatting with Kaguya when Kaguya told her that she had to leave for Japan in the wake of Zero’s revival. Meanwhile in Area 11, C.C. told Lelouch that it is now impossible for them to return to the embassy while his mind is still on Nunnally. He is aware that he will have to go against his sister now that she is the new Governor-General. However he only believes that she is now being used as a political tool by his father, the Emperor. At The Sword of Akasha temple, Emperor Charles reveals his intention to destroy the gods and V.V. concurs this as their contract. An interesting matter here is that the Emperor refers to V.V. as brother. This term “brother” can go many ways and I refuse to believe that they are biologically related. Suzaku, Gino and Anya are at the Chinese Federation embassy when they were informed by Xingke that the Black Knights are already gone. Suzaku suspects that they are heading for Nunnally. True enough, the Black Knights made it to the sky and begins their assault the airship that carries Nunnally. Lelouch who now acts as Zero, made it clear to his underlings that the mission is to capture Nunnally without harming her. While the Knightmares are on their assault, Zero makes his way inside the airship to find Nunnally. Before you questions how he was able to find Nunnally although he does not have the information beforehand, he could simply use his Geass and ask the airship crews where to find her. Sensible enough, isn’t it?

Before the Black Knights could successfully taking over the main airship, reinforcement in the form of Vincents with Guilford piloting one of them, come over to assist General Upson. However Upson is not happy with Guilford’s move as this would tarnish his own reputation and credit to Guilford’s. Even with the Vincents, the lead members of the Black Knights manage to cope with the resistance. Then, the Knights of Round arrive. Gino spearheads his way with his Tristan to destroy Asahina’s Gekka, very much to reveal Asahina’s “manhood” unexpectedly. When an escort airship is crashing its way towards the main airship, that is when Anya shows off her Mordred using its beam cannon – somewhat similar to Gundam Virtue. Upson who cannot bear further humiliation (that he is greatly assisted against the Black Knights), decided to take things with his own hands and begins shooting at any units from the Black Knights. Unfortunately, he took on Todou and soon enough, got killed by him. However the aftermath of Upson’s earlier attack damages the airship’s main engine and slowly on its way to a watery crash down the ocean. By the mean time, Lelouch finally reach the garden where Nunnally is. As she is confronting Zero, she told him not to kill her first, believing that what he is doing now is wrong. Instead Lelouch disagrees, saying that Britannia is just using her. She however denies this and told him that she is doing it with her own will. What she intends to do is to make the world a better place and peace restored by taking on Euphemia’s final will to establish the Special Administrative Area of Japan. She even pleads Zero to join her. On the other hand, Lelouch was not prepared to hear this.

At the same time, Todou and Senba make their way around the airship when Vincent strikes at Senba’s Gekka and kills him. Even Todou is having it rough with Guilford’s Vincent. Miles away, Suzaku readies himself in his Lancelot and made flight as Lancelot Conquista. He makes initial damage on Kallen’s Guren while Anya singlehandedly obliterated Chiba’s Gekka with her Mordred – literally. To Kallen’s luck (while descending to crash to the sea below), Lakshata comes in just in time to deliver Guren’s new addition – an air gliding device; basically the same with Lloyd’s Float System. As an added bonus, the Guren Nishiki’s severed Fukushahado right arm is replaced with the improved armor-piercing Fukushahado. Indeed, a shot from the improved Fukushahado destroyed all three remaining Vincents including Guilford’s. Again, Kallen proved her skillful piloting skills and the worth of her upgraded Guren Kashoushiki by halting two of the Knights of Round – Gino and Anya. She immediately go for Lancelot and uses the Gefjun Net to slow Lancelot down. However Suzaku is running desperate as the airship is soon to crash and having tipped by Cecile, he shifts his attention to retrieve Nunnally and abandon his fight against Kallen. Even Kallen now is running desperate to search for Lelouch. Suzaku forces his way into the airship using the Core Luminous Cone on the Lancelot and reaches the garden where Nunnally and Zero are. The air vacuum created pushes Lelouch off his feet (he should consider on putting on some weight) as he tries to reach for Nunnally but it was Suzaku who becomes the knight with shining armor for Nunnally as he takes her away from safety. The airship crashes and destroyed while Lelouch is midair though Kallen manages to catch him in time. Lelouch cries out for Nunnally and she took notice of this.

Thoughts: The last scene is very suggestive. It could possibly means that Nunnally suspecting that Zero is actually her own brother, Lelouch. Or maybe she freaks out in horror, thinking that Zero is an obsessive stalker of her. Anyway, this episode is what I call a “gay” episode – this is what my circle of DotA-going friends would call as overwhelming. Yes, overwhelming it was, from the first minute to the last. I enjoy this episode in the sense of its action-fuelled sequences and the introduction of new units. We already saw Tristan in action before and get to see more of it in this episode. The added bonus here is to see Mordred in action, pumping its beam cannon like only Gundam Virtue can possibly do. Also being introduced is the mass production units of Vincents. Though Vincents failed to outlive the expectation, Guilford still manages to escape and survive for another day. I can see he is going through the same fate like Jeremiah – or maybe Patrick. We also get to see Lancelot Conquista, which I believe that it suppose to be Lancelot Conquester but whichever goes, who cares anyway. We have seen Lancelot Conquista before. It is just basically Lancelot equipped with the Float System. Nothing much on that. However it is Guren Nishiki who stole the highlight. Not only it is also equipped with its own Float System, its Kashoushiki also had its upgrade, which acts as armor, long-range shooting beam, and dispersed beam. Add this to Kallen’s superior handling of the Guren – which rivals the Knights of Round, this upgraded Guren Nishiki is definitely the one to beat. This also bags the question, how strong is the Knight of One? The Knight of One is supposed to be the strongest knight in the Britannia empire and like the rest of the Knights of Round, he also serves directly under the Emperor. I can see that he is bound to duel Kallen in the future and this will make up one interesting duel of Knightmares.

As for the Black Knights, it is apparent that they are heading for a temporary downfall. Lelouch’s mind is all messed up about Nunnally being the new Governor-General of Area 11 while the Black Knights under his command had lost yet another elite member. Even all the Gekkas, except for Todou’s, are completely destroyed. However this would be indicative that new Gekkas will be introduced, especially now that Lakshata is back. Lelouch is fortunate enough to have Lakshata on his side, now that his fight is yet to have gone astray. Alright, if you scrutinize Code Geass properly, you can see that it is highly similar to Gundam 00. First, Mordred with its beam cannon. Then, Tristan as a high mobility Knightmare Frame. And now, Shirin Bakhtiar? Even the plot is converging to something familiar. The preview suggests that Lelouch will abandon his mask as Zero and this is likely to be handed over to someone else to fill in the shoe. I don’t know if the this would happen but if it should, then doesn’t this sound somewhat familiar? Either way, putting that aside, it is always to see Lloyd back in the story with his usual antics.

Next episode: Is Code Geass heading its way of plot development as Death Note? Come on, Lelouch to abandon his identity as Zero and probably to hand it over to someone else. Doesn’t that ring any bell?

Gundam 00 was produced after Code Geass, therefore the Gundam Virtue fires like the Modred, not the other way around.Lol though the “air-bags” on asahina matched quite well xD.
