Michiko to Hatchin episode 5

I know our welcome bit says ‘this blog is children-safe and no misdemeanor acts here’, so the reason I’m posting this picture is so you can see how much Michiko has changed over the years.

Michiko Malandro

Not all that much!

Michiko really hasn't changed much, bar the hair

Episode 5 begins with a flashback, but with Michiko flashbacks they are gritty, violent and with a lot less colour. Looks like there were a lot of gangland fights, with groups such as Monstro and whatnot. Urgh, I don’t like gangland wars, I can never keep up with the names and who’s in what gang.

Crotch to the face!

Michikos signature move: Crotch to the face!

Back in real time and back to Hatchin. The story from the last episode seems to have been abandoned completely, so god only knows what happened to that pole dancer. I’m not even sure how long after that incident this episode started on.

That house to the left is the devils domain. Look what happens when our perfectly normal god-fearing crate lifter enters...

As friendly as he originally acted towards Michiko, Mr.Pretending-to-be-gay didn’t want to be involved with Michiko at all. I guess Michiko doesn’t have any allies in her quest to save Hiroshi, bar Hatchin and even that is a dubious relationship. I suppose it gives her another reason to find him, he might be the only person on her side in this cruel world of Michiko to Hatchin.

There he is! Hiroshi Morenos, the father of Hatchin

Ah, finally we see the real Hiroshi. Then again, this guy from earlier might actually be Hiroshi but I doubt it. He had come to capture Michiko but was confronted with that picture from the beginning of the post, so he was understandably distracted. Plus, their guns had no bullets so they were a pretty useless duo when Michiko went and headbutted him.

Confronted with topless Michiko, what happens to Hiroshi? Nosebleed!

I knew Michiko was from an orphanage. I said it in episode 2that I bet her and Jumbo are from one. She tries to send Hatchin to that very same orphanage but Hatchin is not impressed. With good reason, Michiko promised she would protect Hatchin, but after the last episode i find it hard to trust much Michiko says anymore.

With every episode she outshines Michiko.

The orphanage women isn’t nice either. She refuses to take on Hatchin without money and claims that she hates kids when she’s in the bar later. God, this anime doesn’t portray Brazil in a favorable light does it.

Oh dear...

Oh dear...

The episode finishes off with a bit of a cliffhanger, with Michiko being captured by a group of gangland thugs. Hopefully this will give Michiko time to shine by driving in on her motorbike and whooping the lot of them. Or maybe she’ll use some underhand method to get her back. Or maybe she’ll do nothing and Hatchin will escape herself, I really don’t know, but my next episode is sitting there waiting to be watched and it’s killing me to write this without viewing the next episode first.

So is Hatchin Michiko’s daughter

The big question of the series and this episode gave a few points.

Hatchin does have the tattoo. Up until now it hasn’t been confirmed, but now we finally see it. Ok, it’s not exactly a DNA test or anything but still. But the origin of that tattoo is still unknown and there is that doubt in my mind as to whether Jumbo showed her the real picture of her daughter. It seems very likely that Hiroshi is the father since they look so alike. But when exactly were Hatchin and Michiko separated? What was the time gap between when they were separated and this picture?

Gah, so many questions and my next episode is sitting there waiting to be watched, I’m cutting this review short. Great episode, Hatchin is awesome, please save her Michiko!

Uh, the pole dancer got shot to death by the little kids at the end after she exited the taxi. Go watch again.

Yeah I know that! I just thought they would go back to that story but they just left it as though it never happened.

Uhm, there’s pretty much nothing can they go back to…it was michiko being helpless and then, it’s time to move on which is good since this means no fillers.

This episode probably intents to answer whether Hatchin is Hitoshi’s daughter and the tattoo reveal puts the nail to the coffin on that question. I thought the writers would drag the tattoo mystery a little longer but the reveal comes at a good time because I find the story is getting nowhere as for now (at episode 6).

Ugh, I know exactly what you mean about gang wars. I detest the plot twists in stories like those too. I get way too confused and just wish everyone kills each other off. It was at this episode I started to come to reality that Michiko was just using Hatchin to get to Hiroshi. She strikes me as the type of person that plans but doesn’t plan ahead. Thus her attempt to drop off Hatchin at the orphanage. I thought that I would be annoyed by all the flaws Michiko has, but in fact I like her more and more. This leaves her open for character change & growth in her relationship with hatchin. Plus she’s an ex con, she’s not exactly fit to be carting around a child. I think she’s in turmoil with this. It’s like, “I need her, but really, what am I doing?”
