Theories on how Endless Eight will end

After hearing that the latest episode was yet another Endless Eight, I poked around a few comment sites to see a few of the theories on how this weird tale will come to an end or what on earth is going through the mind of the producers.

1: Ends at the end of August. In real time folks. It won’t be the first time either, think about how this season started. A 3 year break by Kyon? It’s certainly not unbelievable and is the most re-occurring theory.

2: It’s all a troll. Kyo Ani/Kadokawa just like watching us RAEG!!!11

3: Bust up at Kyo Ani. The original director/producer/animator/pizza boy has been sacked and there is chaos in Kyo Ani. Seriously, I read this from from some bloke who took it from 2chan.

4: Kyo Ani are trying to piss off Kodokawa by doing this so Kadokawa will leave them alone so they can animate Haruhi as they please. Only believed by the wildest of Kyo Ani fanboys.

5: Kadokawa know crazy Haruhi fans will continue to purchase their products and in Endless Eight they see a ready-made stalling tactic on limited source material. Basically, it’s the same as filler except not even new material. Again, a Kyo Ani fanboy explanation but slightly more believable.

6: It’s all done by a Selecou to drive hikkikimori out of their homes through frustration at having nothing to watch. This is one of the more believable stories to be honest.

Since this still gets hits lets toss out a few more theories

7: It will end on episode 8 because it’s Endless Eight! Ah come one, this is far too obvious. Would master trolls Kyo Ani really do that?

8: It will be an entire season of Endless Eight. This gets more believable every episode and I think this would probably be the best option for everyone involved.

9: Who cares! Lets watch FMA instead

As for myself, I’m just going to take a quote from Cowboy Bebop that manages to perfectly portray my thoughts on the subject.

Those are interesting theories. Number 1 sounds the most plausible, but I really hope “Endless Eight” doesn’t keep repeating for another month and a half XP That would seriously be too much. The 3-year gap makes sense, but then shouldn’t they have aired “Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody” on July 7th if they wanted to follow real time that much?

Theories 3 and 5 are possible too. Theory 6 is funny XD

I’m hoping “Endless Eight” will just end next week and we can forget about all this. I keep thinking there’s some clue in the way the characters for each “Endless Eight” title appear at the beginning of each episode but I can’t figure it out…

Actually, theory 5 doesn’t make much sense, since there’s plenty of material from the novels to make even a third season, even if “Endless Eight” was just one episode long. Maybe they’re just nervous that volume 10 won’t be out by the time they get to that point (considering it’s been on hold for over two years) so they’re dragging the anime on as long as they can.

I think theory 2 sounds the most likely, and hopefully KyoAni/Kadokawa have had their trolling fun and will give us all a break next week.

I had heard of the 2 year hiatus of the novels which was what made he believe the filler idea is actually rooted in common sense.

I know what you’re talking about when searching for clues. I feel like I’m in Endless Eight with them and by finding what can make it end I’ll be able to get out of it too (please no spoilers from any other commenters).

I should probably point out that I’m not much of a fan of Haruhi at all but I find these episodes fascinating in a frustrating sort of way.

I wonder if KyoAni is charging full price for the production of the 2nd episode and beyond of this Crazy Eight arc. 🙂

Think the stations broadcasting the series are happy with this?

I’m going to go with the “it will never end” theory.

if theory #one is indeed a theory and not a supposition from an echo coming from inside the production, then it’s an impossible theory. that would be to end of this anime.

#2: yeah, that is it IMHO. they want to create a mouvement of debate and discussion. but filled with rage, it can’t be so positive.

#3: “I read this from some bloke who took it from 2chan” ahah ^^, must be the thing then.

#4: i love this one, its like you have a piece of wood traversing your leg, you need to make sacrifice to get it out.

#5: i’m too enraged to give them any money, and i shall share on torrent as much as i can just too make them feel my suffering.

    #6: it’s a conspiracy !

Perhaps they’re padding out the “1st season” so that it fits the 28 episode re-run block that it’s being aired in and covers all chronological events in the Haruhi saga until Someday In The Rain, directly before Disappearance.

That way they can resell season 1 as an actual season 1 with all the events from the first event in Melancholy Part 1 to the final event of the original airing and then air season 2 as a straight episode-by-episode series without the messed up chronology.

Let’s face it, airing an actual “season 2” in the middle of season 1 episodes is just inconvinient and bad business. So what are they to do? Simply adapt the three missing stories (Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody, Endless Eight and Sighs of Haruhi Suzumiya) in a way to pad out a new order season 1 box set which is worth people buying again. If it was only 6 extra episodes ontop of the 14 existing, it would be less insentive. Either that or the rerun block they purchased was a static 28 episodes, I recall reading that Japan’s programming blocks are more rigid than other countries.

It’s the best idea I can manage, as far as all signs are showing, this is still a rerun of season 1 with new episodes. Not really “season 2”.

It’s a theory, of course, but sweeping up the continuity problems to streamline future episodes is the most neat thing I can think of.

Also, for clarification, I have no idea what I’m talking about and just saying things which sound favorable to my beliefs, wills and wants of the show’s direction. Troll away if need be.

I think they’re just going through Endless Eight eight times, then there will be the finish.

After all, so far there’s only been 5, and 2 more have been confirmed.

The clue has been repeated over and over…Kyon needs to finish his homework! I haven’t read the light novels but my theory is that he needs to finish his homework. Haruhi said it over and over…(paraphrase) “finish the tedious stuff right away, so you can really have fun.” She probably thinks subconsciously that Kyon needs more time to finish his homework so she keeps repeating time to give him that chance cause we all know that she’s got a soft spot for him.

that’s my theory…it’s kinda stupid and nonsensical..but in Haruhiuniverse it makes some sense maybe?

side note: poor yuki having to live through that over and over and over

I’m pretty hopeful Endless 8 will end on episode 9 xD
Sine that would be the 8th episode of the arc.
I think this deff. makes the most sense but hey

It’s over; theory 7 was right. Eight for infinity symbol, eighth episode, and eighth month.

In two days it will be the 8th day of the 8th month, would be funny if they’d relased the 8th episode of endles arc, wich wil then break up the endless arc.
