Darker than BLACK: Gemini of the Meteor episode 3

If you think Misaki’s return to the show is exciting, try watching this episode to get the full thrill. I literally screamed like a fangirl to learn that another familiar character comeback. Unfortunately, the exhilaration ends with the horrible BGM. Well, there were some good moments but most of it failed to sync to the mood of the scene. I know that I’m late for this review but put the blame on my local ISP. Now there’s episode 4 to catch soon. More after the jump.

Those moments that remind you exactly why you love anime

In my last post I talked about the rather depressing side of anime with not being afraid to drop series. So now I’m going to talk about the greatest moments I’ve experienced while watching anime. Sometimes it’s just a single scene combined with your own over-the-top reaction to it. Sometimes it’s because you’ve just watched an episode so perfect you couldn’t imagine that you’d ever watch anything as good as that ever again. Or sometimes it’s something on a more personal level. I’m sure you have those moments and I dare say you can probably already pick a few off the top of your own head. So for now, I’m going to list out my top 10 moments that reminded me exactly why I love anime so much.

Sundance Kid pose

Since I cut it down to 10, theres a few I left out. The delight while re-watching Cromartie to realise that’s it’s exactly as funny as a remembered it to be. Those weird dreams I would have after watching Haibane Remnei. The ‘Alleujah Beam’ in Evangelion episode 22ish that resulted in one of the most surreal sequences I’ve ever seen. But I had to cut it down to 10. This post has almost 2000 words as it is.

Ending up with more dropped series than watched series is now looking like a serious possibility

While I was typing up my monthly review, I noticed that my watching list was a bit smaller than I originally thought it was. Since I’ve watched the first episode of practically everything this season that’s either not a sequel or doesn’t have flying underwear, this confused me a bit until I realised exactly how many anime I’d dropped. Basically, I’ve already dropped over half of the series airing this season. That figure will probably rise since I end up dropping a lot of anime around the episode 5 stage (Kobato and Sacred Blacksmith are heading towards that point and Natsu no Arashi has already been dropped). I always knew I was a vicious dropper but the extent of my dropping capabilities hadn’t quite hit me yet. Intrigued, I looked back at last season to see how many anime I had watched and how many I had dropped.

Watched/Watching: Bakemonogatari, Spice and Wolf, Sora no Manimani, Umineko

4 Series

Dropped: Needless, Canaan, Tokyo Magnitude, Princess Lover, Umi Monogatari, Aoi Hana, Yoku Wakaru Gendai Mahou, Taishou Yakyuu Musume

7 Series

If this trend continues, I’m going to have a larger dropped list then a watched list.

Hetalia Axis Powers episode 40

What an excellent 4 minutes and 33 seconds of Hetalia that was. Normally the episodes last for 5 full minutes so it’s a bit odd that this one ended early. I wonder what happened to those last 27 seconds. I have no recollection of them whatsoever.

No really, nothing happened after the 4 minute, 33 second mark.

Kobato episode 1 and 2

I’ll be frank: Kobato is another anime that I’ve been anticipating this year, along with DTB2 and FMA2. Who doesn’t? Hanata Kobato is everyone’s favourite flat-chested girl ever. Okay, maybe that doesn’t sound right after all. But the fact remains Kobato is my favourite CLAMP work piece after Chobits. Now, just knowing that CLAMP is the one behind this assures you these: first, it’s definitely shoujo; second, it’s definitely funny; and lastly, it will feel pretty much similar to CLAMP’s previous works. I’m sure most of you have read Scamp’s first impression on Kobato and given his B rating for the anime, you know he won’t be blogging about it. So, this is where I’ll be filling in. But unlike my usual episodic reviews, I’ll do Kobato a bi-episodic review, which would easily fits into my hectic schedule as of late. So this review is kind of late but better than never. Now, enough ranting and to the review.

Letter Bee episode 4

Right, time to blog an episode on time for a change. This hasn’t happened in bloody ages but with Letter Bee it should be. No waiting for lazy, Aion playing fansubbers. Now we have Crunchyroll subbers. Or Horriblesubs rips, which according to the poll I ran last week appears to be choice of most Letter Bee watchers.
