More details of the Code Geass Project

There is a hype building up around the Code Geass Project. I have shared this before and finally, confirmed it. As I mentioned before, more details will be revealed in the January issue of NewType. Since NewType is not readily accessible to me and that it’s in Japanese while I only read minimal Japanese anyway, getting that issue of NewType is out of question. Luckily for me, there are other reliable translated sources. The good people from the GG fansub got a copy of the magazine and translated it for us fans.

“I, Lelouch vi Britannia, command you to not to kill my screen time. I need to know if I’m dead or alive!”

Long story short, the Code Geass project is an upcoming Code Geass manga taking place during the time before the events of “Lelouch of the Rebellion”, which is during the Edo Era. This manga, entitled “Renya of the Dark” is a part of the “Code Geass History”. The script writer for this Code Geass, Goro Taniguchi, already tells upfront: this Code Geass manga will be not adapted to anime. Instead, he hinted that there are more chapters to be revealed under this “Code Geass History” arc. So from what I can understand, this new Code Geass project will revolve mainly on this “Code Geass History”, explaining the origins of the Geass. That means more will be revealed about how C.C. obtained her Geass Code, how the Geass Code came to existence, and the most intriguing question of all, C.C.’s real name. However, these questions I ask are purely theoretical and does not reflect the real intent of the Code Geass Project. Anyhow, here is the main excerpt of the NewType article translated from the GG fansub blog:

Starring a NEW main character, Renya, the adventure of “Code Geass” unfolds once more. A new manga script writer, Goro Taniguchi, makes his debut with the newest “Code Geass” project serializing in the monthly magazine, Shonen Ace. A manga series with Taniguchi, the director of the anime, writing the script, and Tomomasa Takuma doing the artwork. “I show much gratitude to both the head editor of Shonen Ace and the manga artist, Mr. Tomomasa Takuma. I’d like to take on this project as a challenge, being an inexperienced manga script writer,” says Goro Taniguchi.

The long-planned project finally comes to materialize. “The new project, ‘Renya of the Dark,’ will be an episode within the ‘Code Geass History.’ There will be stories from two different eras in the same world. The anime featured the ‘Lelouch of the Rebellion’ chapter, and we see this as the ‘Renya of the Dark’ chapter.” This “Code Geass” will be expressed through manga. How will it differ from the anime? “For instance, you can express emotions on a panel by panel basis in manga, and you can also express a fighting scene with intensity via a two-page spread. I wish to release a ‘Code Geass’ that is unique to manga with Mr. Takuma’s amazing skills in drawing sharp lines and expressive glances.”

The stage is the Edo Era. Renya and his friend meets C.C. and face fate head-on. “We will write the epic of Renya with the two main themes that are present in ‘Code Geass’: ‘What does it mean for man to live?’ and ‘What exactly makes me who I am?’” The next movement of “Code Geass” has finally begun to move. “We still have many other chapters of the ‘Code Geass History’ that are in the works, so stay tuned for future announcements!”

I just happened to find a link to your site today. And I had not heard about the Code Geass Prosject before! I think that Code Geass was one of the best series that I have ever watched (and I generally don’t like mecha or the like.)
This will surely be very diffrent from the first, but I would miss the original story. Still looking forward to this one. And I hope they will make an anime serie eventually, because the chances that the mange will EVER be translated to my languange is slim to none.
I also thought that it would eventually become another story about the Geass, just because of the “Lelouch of the rebellion” part of the name.
Please keep me informed about it, and where I could find an English version online when it commes out in English.

Your site is now bookmarked 😀

Actually, even if the “Renya of the Dark” manga project is the most communicated about because it is the first to come; the “New Code Geass Project” isn’t limited to this manga. The producer Yoshitaka Kawaguchi revealed that the “New Code Geass Project” will have “at least two more phases” after the manga release. He also added that the complete project will feature “the simultaneous releases of comic series, music, new items under development, and visual works.”
He also wanted to announce a NEW ANIMATION PROJECT as part of the whole project “soon”. Finally the producer still doesn’t know the form or format the second phase will take.

But to come back to the manga, I think it’s important to note that “Shikoku no Renya”, the manga/first phase of the project have its complete script written by the co-creator/director of the first and original anime series Goro Taniguchi. It is therefore the first and only “official” manga of Code geass, the three other adaptations being scripted by other people without relation with the original project. the drawing of “Shikoku no Renya” will be assured by the drawer of the manga “Code Geass: Nightmare of Nunally”.

To finish off, here is the most complete synopsis yet available for the manga:
” The story takes place in the same official Code Geass history as the anime, but in a different era. The title character, Renya, is a 17-year-old boy with a mechanical left arm and shuriken throwing stars as his weapons of choice. The story begins when Renya encounters a mysterious, perpetually young witch named “Reifū C.C.” C.C. has appeared in Japan’s historical Edo era to seek a new partner for a covenant. Meanwhile, a mysterious man, with a striking resemblance to the character Lelouch of the original anime, also appears with unknown intentions. ”

We know more information now, well C.C. will be present. But doesn’t look like anyone else from the Lelouch’s Rebellion will be there.

C2’s real name is camela cershiro (credit to wiki answers) hence her calling herself “C2” because of her initials

However, bats with large barrel size are heavier, so take that in consideration when buying a
bat. If this is something you love to do, then work
hard and spend a lot of time doing it. A Browning gun safe with the vault type
cam locking system has immovable bolts when hammered upon.
