Top Three Anime Movies of 2009

No sir, you cannot have some of that pie.  Sorry, had to start it off with something on the lighter and more random side of things but now that you’re reading this, you’re in for my top three picks of anime movies this year.  Be in mind that I’m very subjective like most good people and your tastes don’t necessarily have to agree with mine.    I really don’t watch a lot of movies in particular because they’re so hard to access, but do not be fooled.  Korea here usually gets first dibs on the screens after Japan and I can understand Japanese, so I can usually d*wnl**d *ff c*rt**n s*t*s.  There’s a good reason why I used all those there.  (Just kiddin for those of you who actually can read it).

Coming in third place is: Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not Advance)

Yes, I loved the original series too, save for the last episodes where nobody in the world could understand what the creators were trying to get across.  I personally enjoyed the first movie, and when I heard that the second remake was going to be a bit different in plot, I was skeptical but nevertheless, Evangelion 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance impressed me with the new graphics, new characters, and most importantly, the new touches on the old characters that make them look even better.   The new plot direction makes up for the fact that many people already “know” the plot.  Good movie, even better remake, with the best graphics… but it’s still third place.  *Oh no!* What can ever be second and first place?  Before I go on for those of you wondering, I’m an Asuka fan… not really into Rei, partially because she’s one messed up kid, but yeah, I’m into more badass people.

And the runner-up prize goes to my favorite series:  One Piece  Strong World

Before some of you start bashing me on me being biased because I’m a One Piece fan, but let me give you statistics.  In the hype of the manga of the 20yearago-Arc and the franchise and whatnot, One Piece Strong World made more money in its opening two days in Japan than Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince did.  If that doesn’t say something, than I don’t know what does.  Since this film hasn’t been released anywhere in subs, I’ll tell you that I directly watched this in Japan because coincidentally I went on a trip there at the same time.  Oda wrote the script himself, so no wonder the plot, the graphics, and the character designs are so epic… save for Usopp.  If you enjoyed Evangelion 2.0, you’re going to jizz in your pants after this one.

And speaking of jizz in my pants, I nearly did when I watched: Summer Wars

File:Summer Wars poster.jpg

No I didn’t but let me tell you how this began.  When I first heard that a new anime movie was coming out, I was happy.  When I heard that it was about a cute girl and a hacker who eventually grows to love her, I was excited.  When I heard it was by the same crew that made The Girl who Leapt Through Time, I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t sleep at all until I watched it.  And when I did watch it, I jizzzzzzzzzzzzzed in ma pants! Just kidding, sorry if I grossed out anyone.  But no, this movie has not ‘jizz’ material and even if it did, it would not really detract the somewhat decent plotline but the kickass graphics that dominate the theater.  Since this has only been released in a small area, I can’t tell you how good it is but when you do watch it, bring a new pair of pants.  Yes ladies, you too.   … I’m sorry these sick jokes are getting lame – it’s a good movie and number one in my book.  That being said, it’s somewhat on par with The Girl who Leapt Through Time, but I prefer the former better.

Tomorrow will be the top five flops of this season ;D

Haven’t seen the Evangelion one yet. I’m waiting until all of the remakes or whatever are released and ready (I think there’s 4, right?).

I also have not seen that One Piece movie, but I’ve seen maybe 6 of them. While they were all pretty good (except that stupid animal one), I don’t know if I’d have put any of them on a top anime movie list of any kind. That being said, this one must’ve been nasty, based on sales. I should be good to start up with One Piece again, I usually wait for an arc to finish, and then watch a whole shitload of them at once (because once I start watching One Piece, I go through episodes like nothing, which is a testament to how good One Piece is). Fuck, I’m going to start up One Piece again (currently, I just finished ep 377, the arc where they’re on the Zombie Island).

Summer Wars is definitely deserving, and was great (I might put it at number two)….I’d say my top three were:

    1. Ponyo
    2. Summer Wars

I only saw two anime movies that were made this year. I suck…..Also, I love pretty much any movie made by Studio Ghibli.

I didn’t see those movies but the only thing I know is I SO FUCKING WANT TO SEE STRONG WORLD… If someone know where I can see it ^^…

By the way all the One Piece movies was shit because Oda-sama didn’t wrote the script but now He’s in the game so strong world is the real deal !!

    @ glothelegend
Evangelion 2.0 is pretty good since it’s somewhat original in its own plotline, and yeah, Oda actually wrote and oversaw the production of the latest one piece movie so it actually doesn’t compare to the previous ones… in a good way.

STRONG IS TEH BOMB. the subbed version will not be released til sometime next year, but that’s why it’s good to know japanese ;D

So this is what you think is tops of 2009. I don’t really see any of these on good top anime movies sites like http://www.filmcrave.com/list_genre_movie.php?genre=Anime . Why not?

Maybe because the site you gave is all-time best anime movies whereas my post is best anime movies of 2009, which can probably tell you that 2009 wasn’t a great year. Although Summer Wars was a good movie.

guess because the mummy bear and the daddy bear both harbour a wee recessive red hair genetic – and the bubby bear has expressed it!
