Who’s Reviewing What in Spring

Since the Spring Season is just around the corner and Winter is starting to wrap up, I thought I’d post who’s going to be reviewing what show. This gives you an idea of what Bokutachi will be covering as a team (though there may be some changes through the season, this is our starting point):

Spiral: Black Rock Shooter, Angel Beats, Mayo Neko Overun!

Poro: Working!!, Senko no Night Raid

Blindability: K-ON!!, Youjouhan

Brian is still on leave for this season and will not be reviewing anything.

Loba remains a mystery.

Thanks for keeping up with us, everyone!

Would Harry Potter been better as a movie series, or an anime?

If you do not know who or what Happy Potter is, go jump off a building.  Just kidding- Harry Potter is literally a “magical” series created by J.K. Rowling.  From the Philosopher’s Stone all the way to the Deathly Hallows, the ‘Boy-who-Lived’ will remain a classic for many years to come by all literary fans.

Sekirei ~Pure Engagement~ = doomed to failure

Looking at all the hype that continues to build before the second season of Sekirei, aptly named Sekirei ~pure engagement~, airs (when it does… take your time), I can’t help to wonder why the second season will be so great?  I mean, we’ve all been expecting something out of it and the top Google search for ‘sekirei season 2’ always leads to Bokutachi no Blog… and sadly, it’s been in the top five posts daily for every single day that it’s been out.  Why are people looking so forward to it, and why will it be something to look forward to?

My Rating System

Due to some confusion, I would like to clarify how I rate anime series at the end of the season.  I will be referring to this post continuously at the end of every season so save this page… or somethin’ of the sort.

10.0 / 10.0 – Amazing.  Period.  If you don’t like it, you’re messed up.

9.0 – Exceedingly good.

8.0 – Above average.  Decent.

7.0 – Average… the good kind.

6.0 – Boring… after a bit.

5.0 – Riddled with crap or useless material.

4.0 – I wasted my time even considering this.

3.0 – 1.0 – I will never give this rating, unless it’s BALLS.

That being said, the highest ratings I gave were a 9.8 / 10.0 for three different anime:

Death Note

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

and The Girl who Leapt through Time

A look back at the winter season

Just to let you know, these are my personal opinions from what I’ve been watching this season.  If you don’t agree, just feel free to civilly comment below on what you think differently.  An overall season impression – the boring ones have disappointed, but the underdogs certainly stood up to take their spots.  Nevertheless, somewhat exceeding expectations in terms of enjoyment.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu: 9.0 / 10.0

Funny as hell, and you’ll never tire from watching it again and again.  This needs to be an RPG… and have a second season.  Don’t expect one though after a nice conclusion to the last episode.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu episode 12 [final]

Spiral’s four strategies in concluding the BakaTest series:

1. You steal your twin’s BL novels and tell an idiot like Yoshii to broadcast the news to class A.  During this time, you challenge class A to a ESB-battle.  Probability of success: 99.99%

Sora no Woto episode 12 [final]

Final Grade: A-/B+

Who’s it for: Recommended to people who are at least curious at how real military garrison life is like, those expecting adventure, excitement, and killing need not apply. A good bet for fans of yuri real or imagined. A must see for those who have endured conscription and enlisted folks who want to reminisce about their own time in service and how funny it all is in hindsight. Those who cannot draw their own conclusion may experience anger and frustration that their agenda was not pushed through should contact Chaplain Crusader for a tough shit card and hurt feelings report. Use only as directed.”
