B Gata H Kei episode nine

If Kosuda’s train confession wasn’t good enough, then his shout in front of the entire class was pretty damn obvious.  Yamada of course has to reject him in front of everyone else.  Great success!

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou episode nine

Well, this had to be one of the better episodes of the series with a lot of religion, bad guys, blood, and monsters.  From last week we thought we would only get a simple Hattori-marriage filler, but we get much more through this excellent episode of confusion and chaos.

...and some blossoming love.

Mayoi Neko Overrun! – Pointless _________________!

At the beginning of this season I was expecting Mayoi Neko Overrun! to be my other big project other than Angel Beats!.  Now it turns out that this show was bad enough to have me metablogging it but it got steadily worse as each director took the reigns of the show.  As we got to episode six I thought I would let a few episodes slide and maybe do a big-combined review if it got better, but now we’re getting pointless fillers and I regret to say that this will be my last post on this series, explaining why it’s not worth your time.

Kimi no Iru Machi 91: Just Like What He Did for Me (+ Extra Chapter!)

After a somewhat surprising yet stale recent chapters, I looked at the scan not knowing what to expect.  That, of course, can be overturned by Haruto’s new faith that Eba was lying to him and his desire for a direct confrontation.  From the beginning of the chapter when Haruto meets his ex to the end, we have a chapter that is the turning point and why we love this series so much.

k-on!! episode eight

A few episodes ago, I’d wondered to myself what Yui would be like after graduation. I wondered what she might be like all grown up, as an adult. I wondered why it was so hard to picture Yui and her future. And then I realized: this is Yui we’re talking about. She’s unreliable, irresponsible, completely dependent on her younger sister, and a Space Cadet. Her best bet would probably be to marry rich.

*

This week’s episode was a personification of just that. Not the marrying rich part; just the question of Yui’s future.

arakawa under the bridge episode eight

So the opening monologues aren’t always philosophical; sometimes they reveal character and character background. This week we took another glimpse into Recruit’s relationship with his father. This tense relationship is one of the foundational building blocks on which Recruit was raised, and its direct impact on his values and life view are clearly visible. Though Nino (and others) have worked hard, and continue working hard to break down such emotionally stunting barriers, overcoming an obstacle as daunting as a love-stingy father.

living in your father's shadow is hard; being thrown out from under it is even harder
