Mayoi Neko Overrun! – Pointless _________________!

At the beginning of this season I was expecting Mayoi Neko Overrun! to be my other big project other than Angel Beats!.  Now it turns out that this show was bad enough to have me metablogging it but it got steadily worse as each director took the reigns of the show.  As we got to episode six I thought I would let a few episodes slide and maybe do a big-combined review if it got better, but now we’re getting pointless fillers and I regret to say that this will be my last post on this series, explaining why it’s not worth your time.

(1) No continuing plot

"...what shall the episode be about this week...?"

Other than the first few episodes, there seems to be no sense of time within the series.  Any of the events could take place from a month apart from each other or just a day apart from each other.  Regardless, this anime fails to establish a sense of setting and plot stable enough to not have the viewers questioning whether or not the events take place one after the other.  Yes, a lot of anime series don’t keep time and it pisses me off, but this is only the tip of the iceburg.

(2) WTF Plots

WTF!?

Frozen terrain?  Braver episode?  Whatever nonsensical crap this show gets, it doesn’t get any more random as I literally shouted “the puck…” after the last three episodes.  I really don’t understand what the directors are trying to do other than come up with random episodes that have no corelation with each other.  And that’s why it’s best to stay with one or two directors that work together to actually make a series interesting and fun to watch.

(3) Nothing special

At the failure of communication... and anime...

…and that’s another thing.  This show got boring to watch despite the attempts at trying to make humor, comedy, and whatnot.  How many of you have actually laughed a decent laugh when watching this show, aside from its lame attempts at parodies?  The title itself is misleading as it draws neko-fanboys but hardly ever does focus on any of this.  After looking at two continuous seasons of cats, I think this show will be the last one for a while.

(4) Are you kidding?  It’s five stars!

"And we shall make an anime that has no direction whatsoever!"

…out of a hundred.  This series really has no point in it other than to make money form its viewers on airing time.  If you like it, I will have to kick you, but for me this show is nothing but a waste of time and a waste of good blog space.

Glad to hear it – this series really didn’t fit with the other series that you’re doing.

Sorry, you bald, middle-aged perverts. But thanks for the hit anyway.
