Angel Beats! episode ten

They seriously have something against lead vocalists of band groups because first Iwasawa, and now Yui.

German suplexes, soccer, baseball, and the whatnot  Apart from going through almost every physical activity before finding out that Yui was paralyzed in her life, I have multiple theories of how this series is going to end.  Of course, I doubt that we’ll get any more GirlDeMo songs (bummer) since they keep killing the lead singers.  Ah well, I really liked their songs.

(1) The Good ending theory

Otonashi and Angel will help everyone move on, and when they finally get to Yuri, Yuri will proceed to get in a fight with Angel.  While they are fighting, Otonashi will confess his love for Yuri and give a heartwarming speech about the great person she is.  Yuri will, of course, be initially shocked but go with Otonashi’s feelings as both of them kiss and start to disappear.  The shadow will turn out to be ‘love’ and it will be revealed that the world that they live in revolves around it as more and more people disappear.  The series will end as Angel runs into a new SSS brigade.  Probability of actually happening: 5%.

(2) The Bad ending theory

It is revealed that if the shadow kills you, you disappear.  Needless to say, everyone of the SSS Brigade will come together to fight it, but many of them will get killed and disappear.  The last three fighters will be Yuri, Otonashi, and Angel as Yuri will throw herself in front of Otonashi to save him.  As she dies, she will confess that she loves him and Otonashi will be left alone with Kanade and the shadow.  Kanade will sacrifice herself to combine with the shadow to destroy it, leaving Otonashi in a godless/angel-less world by himself.  Of course, he will eventually go crazy and fit in with the NPCs but no disappear.  Probability of actually happening: 10%

(3) The SPIRAL theory

After having everyone disappear, Otonashi is fighting with the shadow but then realizes he needs his friends and regardless whether or not they have moved on and become barnacles, he would want to be in the company of his companions and somehow manages to reverse time to when he first gets there.  Of course, this would continue to the series from episode one and would continuously loop.  Ahhhhh, I can’t remember the anime that the final episode had the main character go back in time to the first episode.  Uh…. anyone?  Probability of actually happening: 1%.

(4) The normal theory

Everyone will disappear after it is revealed that the shadow is something like “regret” or “anger”.  Yuri will get over her tragedy and will disappear along with the shadow.  Probability of actually happening: 50%.

Aside from that, Yui got a lot of screentime and it was sad to see that she was so energetic because she couldn’t live her real life.  Hinata coming to “save” her was the highlight of the episode as well as the ending showing how life would’ve been different had Hinata met Yui.  I knew it, they are soooo a couple.  But on a more serious note, it’s curious to see what that shadow will be.  Yuri’s probably going to get a lot of screen time the next few episodes since they basically just skipped out on her the last two.

Best episode so far! really loved Yui’s story the most, and I agree whats with that band and lead singers seems crazy and pink haired girls too!? I will miss the crazy little demon girl she was always my favorite.

I wonder if everyone is just “sleeping” in the real world and angel has to wake them up?, But I think most would hate the idea of it all being just a dream who knows definitely some great theory’s you have there.

I dont think so, it seems otonashi did die and in the manga, hinata died by a car accident.

this ep made a scratch on my view of hinataXyurippe but its nice that they ended happily.

Ah gotcha there, yeah haven’t even looked at any manga of this yet, I tend to read them after a series I liked, thats if it was great and worth the time.

I have to say while your good ending theory was kind of nice it’s probably true that the odds are incredibly low. I think Otonashi is too busy in his mission of saving the SSS to think about a romantic relationship anyways.

While the odds are low I’m kind of pulling for the bad ending. I mean the last few episodes have made me a bit annoyed with Otonashi so having him go insane in a world without Kanade or Yuri sounds fun.

Damn the band loses another lead singer. They just can’t catch a break it seems. The next singer they get will be tied up and kept under heavy guard at all times.

Wonder what is up with the shadow thing. Of course with this show I expect the shadow situation to be resolved within an episode leading to another conflict. This show just can’t hold onto an antagonist for more than an episode or two.

I thought when it said “the spiral theory” it would turn out that Gurren Lagann was right and drills are the answer to everything.

Ah, I rather liked this episode. Though it’s Jun Maeda doing what he’s pretty much a master at, almost.

As for your theories, here’s my own thoughts. I kind of think that since Yui, one of the most energetic (genki if you will call her that) as well as one of the bigger comedy relief characters, is gone. This may be a signal of a the plot taking a bit of a darker turn ala Cowboy Bebop with Ed and Ein, though maybe not as dark.

Also, the love confessions theory is rather interesting there… or rather how keen you are on how there’s a possibility of a love confession. Would be nice though, I admit.

    Anyways, see you around!

I think I’m going to go with the normal theory, although the other ones are fun. I doubt that the bad ending will happen, or at least I hope it doesn’t. Anyways, Yui stole the show for me with this episode. She was funny, adorable, and kind of sweet yet mean. The confession by Hinata was so cute as well. Certainly a very kyaah moment.
