Angel Beats! episode eleven

If anyone expected this, I wouldn’t be surprised.

What better way to disappear than to get consumed by a shadow that turns you into an NPC?  Good point!  Otonashi seems to offer the solution of having everyone become swallowed by the shadow after Takeyama’s result, but Yuri seems to take it in her own way.  If everyone was going to disappear, it would be safe to say that the closing episode would completely focus on Yuri, Otonashi, and Angel.  The fight scene between the SSS members and the shadows were cool (TK wins the best kill of the week), but Yuri seems to be the only character actually interested in surviving past the series after she breaks into the mysterious teacher’s hideout (which turns out to be Guild… again).

But the revelation that Kanade wasn’t really an Angel and a ‘bad guy’ was indeed the facepalm moment of the episode.  After you try to survive the whole series against this character, Yuri reveals it smiling.  Well, that wasn’t a waste of time, but I disappointed that we’ll never find out Kanade’s past nor the other SSS members’ pasts and how they died.

We know that there will be no more GirlDeMo songs as they put down their guitars, which was disappointing to me but I expected it after Yui disappeared last week.  Not much to say, except that a lot will be revealed next week.

Ehh, GirlDeMo didn’t put down their guitars… they were looking at Yui’s and Iwasawa’s guitars. Reflecting on their disappeared members, I guess.

I wouldn’t blame them if they did give up though. I mean they keep losing lead vocalists. Clearly the universe doesn’t want them playing. But yeah they were just looking at the two guitars and thinking about them and their decision to disappear.

The series just keeps doing things that don’t follow how you’d expect. Honestly I thought we’d get a big moment of betrayal over Otonashi’s secret actions and instead Yuri just mentions that she knew what was going on and lets Otonashi speak his mind.

No idea what to expect from the last episode. Really this series just keeps changing things up so when you think a certain enemy will stick around they just shift it again.

My theory is that Yuri will be the only left alone in the world. I mean, it makes sense if you look at the ending sequence.

Ahaha, that “big reveal” of Kanade not being an Angel was great. Yuri really does have to know it all.

Lol I could see it now: TK was a break dancer who went for a record number of head spins but ended up breaking his own neck. It’d be both sad and awesome if this turned out to be the real story.

I think it disappointed me that Yuri knew Tenshi was not an angel. Of course Yuri might have made up an enemy just so she could have someone to fight against. It is hard to create a group of fighters if there is no one to fight over. That or Yuri knew all along Tenshi was trying to send people along and Yuri had to convince all the SSS members that Tenshi was the enemy so Yuri wouldn’t be left alone (Yuri being unable to move on since she is so angry at God still).

I do hope they find a way to get Takeyama’s soul back. X_X Would be unfair if everyone got to move on to the next world and he was stuck there forever.

I do think that Yuri should have been upset at Otonashi’s betrayal but since the Smoke Monster was killing people I guess she let that one slide.

To be honest Yuri showed signs of thinking that Kanade is a normal human since episode 3, when they barged into her room and discovered the Angelplayer software. What was weird in that scene was Otonashi’s reaction since I thought he understood Kanade better.

Um, apologies if I seem rude but isn’t his name Takematsu? Also, wasn’t Otonashi offering the option to deal with their past regrets and disappear ala Yui and Iwasawa, -not- by getting swallowed up by the Shadows? I’m sorry but I don’t remember seeing at any point seeing Otonashi say any of that.

It’s a quick end, but it’s a shame, I bet alot more would be done/covered if it was a 25-26 episode anime instead of the 13 episode like the trend being seen lately.

Anyways, I’ll be seeing you around!

I only assumed that he would say that – that was why everyone was shocked to hear it but at the end of the episode were saying farewell to the things they loved most.

    SORTA-ish SPOILERS:
Don’t read if you don’t want to know how Yuri and Hinata knew that Kanade wasn’t an Angel.

Actually, Yuri and Hinata knew all along that Tenshi/Kanada wasn’t an Angel. It was just a nickname. If you guys read the manga, you’ll find out that it’s because of “Hand Sonic”. Hinata thinks it’s ‘Angel-like’ and so they start calling her Tenshi. (Something like that, I have bad memory) o3o.
