I hated the fact that Ookami looked like an older version of Taiga (and the narrator did not fail to mention that she is pretty flat too) so I kept thinking about Toradora whenever I saw Ryouko Ookami or heard her voice. Not only that, I really hated the design of her “sidekick” Little Red Riding Hood Ringo-chan. The trailer didn’t look that good but I found myself watching this series anyway. The first episode was based on Cinderella with a tennis-and-flip-kick twist. Regardless, I liked it. I really enjoyed it although I don’t know why.
The heroine: Yes, this is that shower scene from the trailer but like the narrator said, it’s not much of a fanservice scene due to the lack of… chest. Still, in her own way Ryouko is pretty cute and I think the violent personality stands as a fixture for a turn-on in many of the other male characters on the show. Luckily, only one of them actually falls for her.
The hero: What a stupid character… and a lead character at that. Hopefully he’ll be more useful like he was in the OP [Ready Go!]. Stil, you have to give him credit for his stalking abilities and his balls for confessing to Ryouko.
The scenario: Like I said, this story is based off of Cinderella except the girl is in love with the tennis club ace. While trying to desperately stop the tennis ‘Prince” from turning in his resignation form, Ms. Cinderella is forced to overcome her moral dilemas and take the form by force. No evil stepmother, no ugly stepsisters, and certainly no talking mice. But it gets even better.
The twist: The tennis ‘Prince’ feels destiny in the kick and forces EVERY SINGLE girl in the school who fits the shoe size to kick him. It’s just a super coincidence that the right girl also is the last one in line but she does kick him correctly… more than once (masochist cough cough) and they live happily ever after.
I’m not expecting a really good continuing plot but what I am expecting is 1) the furthering relationship between Ryouko Ookami and coward-boy and 2) funny and creative twists to many popular stories. The first episode was done really well and it seems that next week’s episiode has something to do with a wolf. Well, thank you – only about a million fairy tales have a wolf in them.
