Best Anime for the Worst day

Wassup! It’s a melancholic rainy day outside, the weather is rather cold and I’ll be in bed for the next 2-3 days thanks to an injured knee (it was worth it, it’s rather funny hitting your opponent with a rolling kick just before the round ends, just be sure to twist your supporting leg next time.. :D). Since I’ll have plenty of time to spend with my beloved laptop, I decided to dive into the unknown fields of my anime folders. Then I realized that I’d had liked to have some tips about which series would be nice to watch on a day like this beforehand…They might not be the best anime ever, but I’m sure you can find something in here to kill some time. Enjoy!

For obvious reasons, I’ll be leaving names like Death Note, FMA, Elfen Lied, Evangelion and other legends in the aniworld, out of this post, since we all know them or at least have heard of them before. I think that if you’re gonna be tied down for a while it’s worth trying something different for a change:

  • If you feel like hitting somebody:

Blood!. That is the main protagonist of this series. While the manga ended just a few months ago, the anime series was produced back in 2007, hence, it only covers half the story.

Back in Tokugawa period at feudal Japan, there was a tournament held with real weapons, instead of the usual wooden sticks. The story revolves around the first match, between 2 handicapped but very skilled swordsmen and the reasons that took both of them there.

It’s a very realistic (gore!) style, with nice characters development and a pretty good animation. If like me, you fall engaged with the story, I recommend to take a look at the manga.

Another pretty good swords plot. This one is more like a japanese Romeo & Juliet, with a nice love story background, exciting fight scenes and even filled with special habilities for those that love Naruto-ish effects.

The story presents us 2 rival families, Kouga and Iga, which have been enemies for a very long time, until one day they find peace by a forced truce between their clans. Years passed and one day the Shogun decides to overcome the future heir by facing this 2 clans’ best ninjas in a kill-or-die clash. Obviously we have the 2 lovers, one from each family, trapped right in the middle of everything.

The story is complete, hence you can sit down and enjoy it till the end.

  • If you want to laugh:

Full Metal Panic?Fumoffu!

For all of you, mecha lovers, prepare… to find another show to watch, cause this has nothing to do with the usual political issues and mecha fights found in FMP!.

This series takes place between the 1rst and 2nd season of the main plot, and is set in the school days of Chidori and Sagara. The crude jokes, dumb parodies and ironical hammerings are an everyday in here. You will be laughing before you notice and I can ensure that any depression will fly away in a sec.

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

I know this is a rather new show. It just went out last year and became the black horse of the season. But I just can’t get tired of it! I’ve watched it at least 2 more times when there’s nothing good to take a look at, and I still enjoy the dummy jokes and parodies made within it.

In a school where classrooms are assigned based on test scores, being F group the one reserved for the worst of the worst, Akihisa Yoshii is recognized as the stupidiest among all of them. Anyway, he actually is a really good person who cares a lot about his friends. One day, he meets Mizuki Himeji, an intelligent girl who fell to F class by accident. After he and the rest of his party decide to take over A class room for Himeji’s sake, the adventure begins… Did I mention that they can fight for other classes rooms with summoned virtual creatures?

Fights, panty flashes, cute girls, mind-troubled guys, eccentric teachers.. this show has everything!

  • Finally, if you actually like to feel down and wanna get to the bottom:

School Days

We all know how anime drama is almost always deppresive. It rarely ends in a good way, and more than once everyone ends death.. Well, this is not the exception.

I don’t want to spoiler, hence I will only give you a brief comment on what you will find while watching this: Boy likes girl. Boy can’t talk to girl. Another girl helps boy date girl. Another girl becomes infatuated with boy. Boy goes out with both. Boy is a lucky jerk. Boy is not so lucky. The end

Ok, perhaps it’s not as plain as that, but if you’re the kind of romantic guy, who enjoys reading manga like Kimi no Iru Machi (like me.. btw, I’ll try to post something about the latest happenings between Yuzuki and Haruto soon), then this show is for you. It’s a big soap opera filled with dramatic moments and realistic glampses. The end absolutely cool.

  • Bonus. If you wanna think a while:

Psychologically thrilling, amazing animation, charismatic anthagonist, well developed plot. What else can I say? This was one of the first series I watched completely in a single weekend, and the reason is obvious, it’s good!

This is the classic Fugitive thrama. We have doctor Tenma, successful neurosurgeon with a gorgeous fiancee and a whole future ahead. One day he attends a kid for a bullet shot. His life will never be the same again. Leaving all behind, he will sail off to adventure in order to clear his name and find the story behind that suspicious child and his twin sister. Epic characters, dazzling puzzles, and an occasional cute girl will get in his way. If you like the first 2 or 3 episodes, then you won’t be able to take your sight away until the end.. at least I couldn’t.

Ok, I know that I might have left lots of good shows out of here, and probably should have left some of this ones out instead.. Don’t blame me!, blame society, blame climate change, blame… the morphine.. (Weeee! for the morphine :D).

Anyways, if you feel like there should be another anime show listed in here, feel free to leave your comments, my free time and me will always be in debt!

Over and Out!

Actually when the sport is Tae Kwon Do that’s the most sportish think you can do… ๐Ÿ˜€

About School Days, I saw it a whiiiile ago and really loved the end, and since I were just reading Kimi no Iru Machi this week, somehow I was reminded of it…

Monster is awsome. I feared the many episodes in the beginning, too, but once you get hooked on the plot they just flow like water.

      Ja ne!

The last episode of School Days was what made the entire painful experience worth watching. Watching that would cheer me up on any day, hands down.

I know! it’s quite worth it, specially if you just happened to know about it before hand and were just waiting for it to happen sooner or later.. (I read about the japanese TV banning against the series and couldn’t stop my morbous inner me for watching it!).

Hmm… I don’t think I could watch any of these (consider me weak), though Basilisk has been on my to watch/to read list for a while now.

I hope your recovery is speedy, HavieruX. Post lots while you’re resting too, haha.
