12 days of anime #6: BEST FUCKING SHOW EVER!!!!

If I were to materialize sex into a anime, that anime’s name would be Honey and Clover.  But no sex before you are married, right? 😀 You can watch Honey and Clover as a substitute before then.  Running Honey and Clover was the best decision Noitamina ever made.  The show doesn’t have samurai-esque massive “mobile suits” or exceedingly high amounts of fanservice.  The selling point is its ability to display a slice of life as it really is.  Except for Morita.  He’s just awesomely kickass.

Honey and Clover is about five friends falling in love, learning about themselves, and going through art college.  Problem is that one of the friends is Morita.  He is enigmatic, funny, talented, retarded, and in love with the same girl as Takemoto, our introverted protagonist.  He turns what would normally be some shoujo with pretty brilliant narration and incite into a calamitous comedy.  I’m not going to reveal too much because too much would ruin the story.  I’ll tell you that Chica Umino’s pen name comes from her favorite amusement park, Amusement Park by the Sea and that circles are a rather prevalent motif.  And leave it at that.

I’m pretty sure this rambling just made you more confused.  No matter, I’m only going to confuse you eve more with this random Q&A which serves as a tl;dr as well.

But, Poro this anime is so fucking old where do I find this anime?

Well, you can go to the official website and grab the link to watch it free and legally on Hulu.

Wait, why are you making a 12 days of anime of it now?

Because I just watched it for the third time recently.

You’re an obsessed fanboy.

Meh, I’ll admit I’m obsessed after learning Japanese just so I can read her latest manga, March Comes in Like a Lion… , since Be With You Scans is so god damn slow with releases of translations.

Until then, I’m just a fanboy.

Is is really that good >.>?

Yes.  It is.  It’s the best anime of all time.

So you must be wondering what these lines must be.  It’s just an extension of the graph that jGLZA drew before… for one of his posts.  Yeah, Honey and Clover is just that much high in quality in function to the measly two seasons it had.

Perhaps you have heard of my views on honey and clover, but in case you haven’t:

Things I’d rather do instead of watch honey & clover: (insert thing to do here)

This comment was hateful and had no substance. Sorry. I’ll try and do better then next time.

Honey and Clover is terrific, most of all, I think, in making us fall in love with all the main characters (and some of the supporting ones), even with (and actually probably because of) their flaws.
