50 Answers to Ace Railgun’s Questions

Not that I was personally asked these questions, which probably means no one in particular is interested in the answers. But it seemed fun and I love bandwagons. There are two things this circulating 50 Questions has done for me: One is remind me that I know very little about anime. The second is that I’ve discovered many other anime blogs – which is something I’ve really been trying to do (admittedly, Google wasn’t much help).

Oh: and it’s helped me get to know other bloggers better. Which I suppose is the original, primary purpose… This is where it all started and there’s a bunch of other people who’ve done it; I’ll try to include a list at the very end if you’re curious. (And you have Tofu to thank for this really useless post.)

Questions About Anime

1. Who is your favorite male anime character?

My most favourite male character for being awesome is both Hatake Kakashi from Naruto and Hei from Darker THAN Black.

2. Who is your favorite female character?

Nino-san! Or any of the K-On! girls.

3. What is your favorite anime soundtrack?

My taste in music goes song per song rather than an entire album or soundtrack. Having said that, I really like the piano piece from Ano Hana, many of the opening/ending songs from the Natsume Yuujinchou series, and the opening song for Break Blade (“Fate” by Kokia) because the vocalization is amazing. From time to time, I replay many of the theme songs for each Miyazaki movie (Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Castle in the Sky), as well as the theme song for Sword of the Stranger – which is epic in sound.

4. What is your favorite anime opening/ending song + animation?

I have to admit that I don’t usually watch the openings or endings for anime; maybe just once to see what it’s all about and to hear what song they use, but even if it’s really good I’m not likely to rewatch it. That being said, I don’t have a very good memory for openings and endings.

6. What is your favorite anime scene?

Oh there are so many I couldn’t possibly recount them all; I get really attached to moments or scenes far too easily. This week alone, I really liked when Mio hugged Tetsuro in Ano Natsu, or when Touko-san arranged the boys’ shoes in Natsume. Or when Taichi sat outside the locker while Chihaya hid inside and cried.

7. If you could meet an anime character who would it be?

I would love to meet Isaac and Miria from Baccano! and get swept up in their madness.

8. What anime character is most similar to you in terms of personality?

There are two that I can think of for very different reasons: The first is Mugi from K-On. We’re similar in the sense that we can easily be overlooked in any given situation. We’re quiet, polite, and more often than not, holding back just a little bit, but completely willing to be pulled into new adventures if we meet the right people. Plus I also love Afternoon Tea and practice it regularly. The second is Urd from Ah! My Goddess and our similarities lie in being “Second Class Goddesses” (you’ll have to have read the manga to really understand the reference). In essence, there’s an inherent internal battle between selfishness and selflessness.

9. What is your favorite thing about anime?

Story telling. And the shared experience of exploring realms of imagination with others. It’s also why I love to read. It’s very personal, but sometimes I treat anime as alternate dimensions; it might not be explicable through science or logic, but because someone’s conceptualized it, it exists.

10. What is your least favorite thing about anime?

Hm. How some series are based on incomplete manga and are therefore ended inconclusively. And incest.

11. Who are your favorite anime couple?

Morisato Keiichi and Belldandy from Ah! My Goddess. Maybe because it was the first anime series I’d ever watched but they are my all-time favourite couple in anime. I suppose my second would be Nino and Ko from Arakawa Under the Bridge.

12. Who is your favorite anime animal?

NYANKO SENSEI!

13. What anime would make a good game?

I … don’t know. I might be breaking the stereotype here but I don’t game.

14. What game would make a good anime?

I haven’t started gaming since the last question.

15. What was the first anime you ever watched?

The Ah! My Goddess OVAs.

16. Do you think you’ll ever stop watching anime?

Entirely? Not likely.

17. What is your favorite genre of anime?

I have no favourites; I’ll watch just about anything except…

18. What is your least favorite genre of anime?

… the ones that are scary and the ones with excessive fanservice.

19. Are you open about watching anime with people you know?

My interest in anime is part of who I am, and as people get to know me, they learn that. But that doesn’t mean I’ll watch anime with just anyone. As things are, I know a few people I could happily watch anime with because they won’t say stupid things while I’m watching – but will listen to the stupid things I have to say.

20. Have you ever been to Japan?

It’s on my “To Travel” list.

21. What anime was the biggest let down for you?

Canaan – because, when I watched it, I was still fairly new in the anime world (and very new to the aniblogsphere) and thought any anime that ‘looked’ good would be good.

22. What anime was better then expected?

Kimi to Boku. Among others, but this one came to mind first.

23. What is the best anime fight scene?

The first fight in Sword of the Stranger. Or the last.

24. Who is your anime waifu?

I don’t really have one, but I suppose if I had to choose one, I’d choose Himari from Pengindrum because she’s cute, likes cute things, and makes good Japanese curry.

25. What was your favorite video game as a child?

For the last time: I don’t game! But my brother forced me to play Secret of Mana when I was really young. I would basically hold the controller and follow him around until his character died; then he’d snatch the controller out of my hand and keep playing.

Questions About Me

26. Most Embarrassing moment?

I once answered the door for a delivery person in my PJs… He was really good looking.

27a. Can you drive?

Absolutely. And better yet: I can park.

27b. Do you own a car?

I own a BMW named Maverick, an Audi named Medusa, and a Honda motorcycle named Michiko.

28. Are you mature?

Only when correcting other people’s grammar.

29. What year were you born?

2018. What? Surely with the Time Travel undertones you are not surprised.

(Though I think Kai’s answer to this question is the best; it made me laugh… out loud.)

30. Do you prefer cats or dogs?

I love both but prefer cats because dogs need to be walked and I live in land with sometimes-severe winter conditions. I have two cats who live with my parents, and I currently live with a bunny.

31. Describe yourself physically.

Five foot two. Really black, straight hair that had recently been cut short for the purposes of donation. And since we’re all anime fans, my three measurements are: 84-69-88 (in cms).

32. What would you name your first child?

Trouble.

33. What is the worst injury you have ever had?

I’ve had two major head injuries, both of which resulted in trips to the hospital and stitches, but considering I don’t really remember those (apparently I have selective amnesia), I’ll say the time I took my cat to the vet and he bit me.

34. What is your worse worst habit?

Correcting people’s grammar.

35. Do you drink or smoke?

I really dislike the smell and taste of alcohol and I’ve never considered smoking. Both are expensive and heavily taxed where I live, and I prefer to spend my money else where.

36. Do you have a tattoo?

I have zero-tolerance for pain, so no.

37. Are you a morning person or a night person?

I’m more of a night person but I can wake up early too. I’m just really grumpy when I do.

38. Have you ever slept past midday

Yes! I think my record for sleeping is 18 hours. …I’m pretty sure I’m part cat or koala.

39. Do you regret anything?

Yes but it’s a long story.

40. Can you count the number of friends you have on one hand?

Um, no.

41. Do you wear glasses?

Sometimes.

42. Are you a picky eater?

No. I’m a moody eater.

43. Would you die for someone?

Theoretically, yes.

44. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

I’ve always wanted Mystique’s ability to shape-shift. I just think it’d be loads of fun.

45. Do you believe in the supernatural?

If I didn’t, would I be so scared of ghosts and vampires? And werewolves; actually werewolves scare me the most.

46. Would you rather be rich or famous?

Rich, though “being rich” is relative.

47. Have you ever committed a crime.

None that I’ve been caught for.

48. Pirates or ninjas? Time Traveler or ghost?

Of course it’s far superior to be a Time Traveler than a ghost (unless being a ghost comes with some awesome power other than haunting) but I wouldn’t trust myself with that kind of power of distortion.

49. Does someone have a crush on you?

I doubt it.

50. Are you in a relationship?

Yes.

Well thanks for reading through!  I probably spent way more time on this than I should have (considering there’s a Spring Preview to be worked on). As promised, a list of some others who’ve taken the time to share their answers too:

    ZOMG! A grammar Nazi O.o

I’m starting to think we need to gather everyone who answered these 50 questions and GO ON A MASS EXODUS TO JAPAN!

Hope you don’t mind if I steal your idea and answer these as well? I know it’s unoriginal, but it seems fun.

GO FOR IT! It is really fun; I was going to send the rest of the team an email about it but I didn’t want to make it sound like I was forcing you to, haha. And I was going to ask for your help in the gaming questions since I know you game.

And don’t worry about being unoriginal; we’re all Ace Railgun copycats … which is fine, since it makes us all cats.

Finally, someone who doesn’t need a time manipulation abilities 😀
I love your favorite characters choices too, they are awesome.
So you’re born in 2018.. Are you John Titor!? D:

Oh goodness no! I’m John Titor’s younger, much hotter sister.

Time manipulation comes with too many responsibilities and its infrastructure of rules is too sensitive. There are fewer consequences and just as much fun to be had with shape-shifting I think.

Some fun choices to be sure. It’s always interesting to think about these things. Though some I’d be lost on if I didn’t take time to reflect on them (like anime characters similar to me).

With the whole super power thing I just keep coming back to stopping time. Just a handy thing really. Not at all related to my thinking on what power might be most handy to robbing a bank without getting caught…..

Answering some of these did take me much longer than expected, and I had to go through my treasure trove of animes to jog my memory.

Just remember: when it comes to robbing a bank and stealing copious amounts of cold hard cash, you can’t instantly change your spending habits. Also, keep in mind that you’ll need to secure a safe and discreet location to store the cash. And don’t forget to come up with a good alibi.

Hmm clearly I’ve been to naive about my super power fueled robberies. Need to be cautious about the aftermath. Figure I can dodge the morality problem by just using those powers after robbing a few banks to stop crime. Considering it advanced payment for good deeds.

Know what it’s like to live in some places with tough winter weather conditions. Prefer dogs myself and with a large enough backyard don’t have to take them on that many walks.

    “Isaac and Miria”

    That would be awesome!

I know they’re technically two separate people but they’re just so crazy together, haha.
