Tokyo Ravens Episode 2 Review

Yeap, I’m still disappointed.  This show SUCKS more cock than lygophile.  That’s REALLY hard to do.  25% of my audience will understand my joke.  Only one of you four.

If this picture makes you think this anime might be good.  Really it’s not.  I just took the best shot from the entire episode.  Don’t be fooled by my excellent photography.

I’m losing faith in this anime and fast.  The mech fights are boring.  The “tragic” backstory is boring.  The world is just so disinteresting.  I wasn’t having any entertainment at all the entire way through.  The main problem is with this protagonist/antagonist.  He is such a bitch.  She is even more of a bitch.

oh poor, antag’ wanting to save her.

Tragic Protagonist? Tragic Antagonist? Tragic world?  As a famous heister from a better fictious universe would say: Let me open my box of care.  OH WAIT.  IT’S FUCKING EMPTY!!!!  I could care more about MILKY HOLMES than this show.  MILKY HOLMES.  Or maybe the breast milk anime a few years ago.  I COULD CARE MORE ABOUT BREASTMILK ANIME than these two people.  In real life, I would sound like the meanest troll on the planet perhaps half of a tier better than trolls who post desicrated corpses of people online and cuss them out.  But honestly, I could easily think of a better story.  Or a better place in the story timeline to begin the story.  Making the audience care about whatever it is you’re making is your number one priority in the first hour of your whatever.  Anime, movie, blog post whatever.  You need the people to emotionally invest in whatever it is you are presenting.  I give zero fucks right now.  Yeah.  That’s bad.

Judging from the OP and EP, the cast gets much bigger than it is right now.  There is apparently a plethora of personality and interesting material LATER in the show.  But like Fringe, I’m not going to watch the first five shitty seasons just to see what happens in the ending season.  It’s already too late.  Where T-Ravens should have started was when the band of heroes already grouped up together to fight evil.  It would be a much more interesting start.  I mean, all this story that’s going on right now really isn’t important to tell right away.  You don’t need to start at the beginning.  In fact, starting in the middle and just cutting out the backstory would be much better.  It would definitely save wasted time.  I honestly could have been more sad for all of these characters if it were mysteriously implied.

And for the love of god, Don’t use 3D modeling.  It really blows without AAA budgeting.

Ouch, yeah that CG is terrible. Not as bad as Machine Doll’s but still pretty bad. On the other hand I found the characters pretty interesting. Protag’s attitude is really lame but I’m interested in seeing where he’ll go. He seems to recover from his mistakes fast enough. The loli antagonist is more of a personal flavor thing. If you like batshit crazy yandere girls I suppose she’s fine but I’m impartial to them.

I personally thought they did a pretty good job setting up Hokuto’s death and making it impactful. The characters carried the emotions through well enough. Though I guess how much each person cares about the plot and characters depends on how immersed they are into the show. My reading some of the manga might have increased that for me somewhat.
