First Impressions: Area no Kishi

Finally the sporting anime I’ve been begging waiting for has arrived… at least I hope so. Its been such long time since the last decent sport anime (Giant Killing) which was so good that I’d be more than happy if Knight in the Area was as little as half as good.

And besides Soccer is the beautiful game, can’t go wrong with that, can you?

First Impressions: Rinne no Lagrange

The first show I watch of the season & year just happens to be one of the shows I’m most excited for so yay for me. It was a pre-air episode so the quality wasn’t great but I won’t hold that against it. (Also why the screencaps aren’t that great, sorry)

The OP bursts with colour and j-pop which is what I want from my mecha, so we’re off to a good start!

First Impressions – Chihayafuru

Here we go; the first of two shows that I’m really looking forward to this season has begun. Chihayafuru is based on an award winning manga, is directed by the masterful Morio Asaka (of Chobits, Gunslinger Girl, and Nana fame), and represents part of a return to the days when Madhouse was good (Before Marvel came along and ruined everything). So it’s fair to say that there was a decent amount of hype surrounding Chihayafuru.

With the first episode having now aired, does it seem like it’ll live up to the hype? I think so.

R-15 Episode 1: Drinking to forget bad times

After the end of Kore Wa Zombie Desu?, I’ve found myself being bored as there was an obvious lack of perverted harem anime in Spring 2011. In this summer, Studio AIC offers us R-15. Seiyus for this show include 4 cast members of Kore Wa and several newbies making their debut. Some TV channels in Japan cancelled their broadcast of this show “due to various circumstances”. Will this show really be able to lead in the harem department? Let’s see…

Kamisama Dolls – First Impressions

Next up is the schizophrenic Kamisama Dolls. It looks good and is made by Brains Base so it should be good but it can’t seem to decide whether it wants to be serious or light hearted so it could very possibly be bad. Lets see.

First Impressions: Ro-Kyu-Bu!

With this being the only sport themed anime this season I may as well give it a watch who knows when the next proper sports anime will come out… I’m looking at you MADHOUSE, enough with this MARVEL bull, I want more Hajime no Ippo! Anyway, roll on the Loli.

Durarara First Impression

Durarara has begun!  Being THE most anticipated anime of the year, it had high expectations.  Not anymore.  Baka Test and Sora no Woto have now captured the hearts of millions while DRRR! only brought a bitter disappointment (not a total one but still a disappointment.  Compared to Baka to Test to Shokanjuu, it was rather uneventful.  But B2T2S 1st ep did something quite rare in 13+ episode anime: It started the plot right off the bat without rushing too early.  Ep review after the picture of an idiot freaking out:

First Impressions: Kobato, Kimi ni Todoke, Darker than Black 2, 11eyes

My next first impressions post was meant to include anime like Book of Bantorra and Natsu no Arashi but I’ve been having some administrative errors with Crunchyroll and it won’t accept my paypal. But that’s for another day. For no we’re going to have to continue watching fansubbed anime. Oh poor us, however will we survive!
