Why We Shouldn’t Have been Null-ified

This get really annoying after the fact that we’ve been kicked out.  For that, this post will dedicate itself to explaining why we are the grand masters of this match-up and why the Null Set should’ve not made it through to the next round.  This post is meant to bash, troll, and hate – but of course, we have full respect for the Null Set for winning the match.  I’m sure that intelligent people can understand this.  (Foul language used in the post).

Are you seriously sh*tting me?  We post at least ten times more stuff and do more shows than the Null Set could ever do.  And that’s another thing – we review every single d*mn show that’s worth reviewing while Null Set does one post at the middle episode about the impressions.  We talk about theories, the future, the development, the making, and basically behind-the-series stuff.  So does it make any sense that a blog with its last post dated on May 26th can actually be a regular blog to visit to?  And why does that post have to be about “reasons you should vote for me” sh*t when it’s obvious that if you write a post like that, people will vote for you?  At least we didn’t have to bribe our readers to vote for us – if anyone wanted a series, they would just send us an email to do a long rant about the series.

“I wasn’t going to try the bribery route but I just had an idea that attempts to bribe while still keeping within the parameters of running The null set like normal. If I win my second round match-up, I’ll watch and write a series review of any one randomly selected anime (up to say 40 episodes in length) picked from a list generated of people leaving a comment at this post saying that they voted for me and the name of the anime they’d like me to review. Of course, I can’t verify if the winning person did, in fact, vote for me but I’m willing to trust in my readers. And  no matter the legitimacy of the comment, I’ll still be reviewing a show I haven’t done yet and I’ll only do it when I win so it’s a win-win for everyone involved.”

Good one.  Tells you what kind of blog it is to actually to need votes to actually blog an anime.

(2) Null’s Reasons

If your top reason was that you have a cute nephew, I wouldn’t even give a sh*t about the site.  Anime, manga, and Japanese culture stands as itself in the technological world, and despite the attempt at a cute or perhaps even a remotely ‘funny’ reason, I wouldn’t even hesitate to not vote.  And good thing you’re from Youngstown too, right?  I mean, the Null Set must mistake us for people who actually give a sh*t about where you’re from.  These, of course, would be “fake” reasons why you would go for Null Set.

The three real reasons are the following:

1.   Unique Philosophy to The Null Set

“I wanted The null set to be a successful anime blog and not wither away after a few short months. To do this, I needed to find something that would separate this blog from other blogs and I needed to believe that whatever this blog did, it had some importance to my potential readers.”

So you do occasional posts about different series, different anime characters going against each other, and impressions of different shows midway through a season.  I never realized the originality of that.

2.   Wider Variety of Content

“I have only the highest respect for episodic blogs and their ability to cover the same shows week in and week out; I’d probably burn out quickly if I tried. I think the format, however, is very constricting and it would limit the quality of my blog since many of my most read posts and the posts I’m most proud about wouldn’t fit into that format.”

Can’t really say much about this, since it derives the assumption that most blogs that do episodic reviews would end up being limited in quality. Random Curiosity, anyone?  Tenka Seiha, anyone? That’s what I thought.

3.   Winning Would Do The Most Good For The Anime Blogosphere

“I have several ideas that I think would make very interesting posts which have been kicking around in my brain for a while now, waiting for a good time to get written, and trying to win in the third round would be a very good reason to get them written. I’m even thinking about bring back my weekly anime review.”

Any time now… any time now… any time now.  Weekly anime reviews and ideas… where are you?  If you want a blog that doesn’t do episodic reviews, you got Baka Raptor.

(3) Null only gave Three Reasons, so I’ll give you the same

Do you even know what’s going to come next for the Null Set?  No, I sure as hell don’t.  Consistency is a key to a blog and we do episodic reviews and rants on a set basis.  If Poro can’t do a post, I do it for him.  If I can’t do a post, blindability will do it for me.  If she can’t do a post, Poro will do it for her.  We’re a team and consistently have an active team and a passive team waiting for the next available season to intrude their thoughts, impressions, and freshness so that the blog doesn’t become stale.  For the Null Set, it will either be:

(1) [anime season] impressions – [anime title]

(2) Top [number reasons] why

(3) Something completely unrelated about snow, photographs, or random interests

The Null set bleeds black...

On the final note, we lost.  Yes, but I realized at AstroBoy’s situation that any competition online can never be fair.  As we pulled into a fair lead (yes, I did vote for Bokutachi no Blog… ONCE), it was curious to see how the Null Set was able to pull back so quickly.  I won’t go into details, but congratulations for Null Set for winning.  Maybe we’ll expect to see another post on why his nephew would vote for the Null Set as well.  Tough.

On a completely unrelated note, I was only kidding about what I said in the post… obviously.
