robots versus robots: from a non-mecha perspective

blindability penginThere are a few robot (space robot) shows this season, and … well I’m not much of a mecha-person. To be quite honest, I find all the mechanical parts a bit too much. Anyway, I thought I would give them a watch to see what they were all about, and to see which – if any – would be a good series to follow through for the season.

A quick brief of the three mecha animes I’ve identified this season follows:

Suisei no Gargantia (aka Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet)

vlcsnap-2013-04-09-16h49m46s135

Summary: While fighting an intense inter-galactic war, a mecha pilot is accidentally warped into a space-time neither he nor the computer of his mecha can recognize. After waking up from a long hibernation, he finds himself trapped on a planet with human residents speaking an unknown language and using inferior technologies, and – most shocking to him – naturally breathable air.

Kakumeiki Valvrave (aka Valvrave the Liberator)

vlcsnap-2013-04-19-21h01m22s211

Summary: Thanks to the development of the Dyson Sphere, the majority of the human populace has moved to live in space. The Dorssia Military Federation and the Atlantic Rim United States exist as major military countries, while JOIR is a neutral principality; the story follows Haruto Tokishima as a normal boy going through high school in True Calendar (T.C.) Year 71. This all changes when Haruto encounters the humanoid weapon Valvrave.

Majestic Prince (aka Ginga Kikōtai Majestic Prince)

vlcsnap-2013-04-19-14h04m48s27

Summary: In the latter half of 21st century, humans leave the Earth and begin to live in space. In order to adapt to the environment in space, and deal with the hostile aliens in Jupiter, genetically engineered children called “Princes” are artificially raised and trained to be pilots of the armed robots “AHSMB” (Advanced High Standard Multipurpose Battle Device). This is a story about one of the teenage “Princes”, Hitachi Izuru, who studies in an academic city Grandzehle.

First Impressions: Rinne no Lagrange

The first show I watch of the season & year just happens to be one of the shows I’m most excited for so yay for me. It was a pre-air episode so the quality wasn’t great but I won’t hold that against it. (Also why the screencaps aren’t that great, sorry)

Rinne no Lagrange

The OP bursts with colour and j-pop which is what I want from my mecha, so we’re off to a good start!

First Impressions: Appleseed XIII

As is Bokutachi tradition, Its never too Late and that is clearly what Production I.G. had in mind when they were busy making this show as it was subjected to countless delays and setbacks. But finally it has made its way to screens and unfortunately, I have to say that I am quite underwhelmed.

Sai Mecha: Cinderella Story?

The inaugural Sai Mecha Super Dimensional Robot Tournament has almost run its course with all my nominations having already fallen and we stand on the verge of crowning our first champion.

Will it be the god-defying show-stopper or an everyday man’s cinderella story? Before we can judge though we should look at what came before…

Asura Cryin’ Season 2 Episode 7: Part 2

In case any of you were wondering why I decided to split this episode’s review in two, well I think all you have to do is watch the frickin episode. I wouldn’t be able to handle only dedicating a mere 5-10 pictured post to this 5-star rated episode. The animation quality, motion flow, real blood and not just crystallization, and I can’t forget to mention the merciless and ruthless people Tomo is up against.

Oh, by the way, I decided to just install VLC again and hope that it would fix my color problem. And it did. I do still wonder why it happened and I would like to prevent it, so your suggestions or explanations will still be cool. THX

Asura Cryin’ Season 2 Episode 7: Part 1

When I download my episodes I watch them with VLC media player. And not too recently ago, I discovered that I could take snapshots of my videos. So after I’ve been doing for a while now, finally forming a steady pace, it seems like the snapshot thing is acting weird. For some reason when I take a snap and I look at the photo in my pictures folder it comes out in very strange color. I don’t know what you might call it, but I know it’s not the Negative effect… It’s more like false color or something to that sort. Whatever was red becomes blue and vice-versa.

PLEASE, IF ANYONE KNOW HOW TO SOLVE MY PROBLEM CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY. Your help will be extremely appreciated!

Well, even though it looks weird, I’ll just have to cope with it for now. I must post this episode before I get any later… XD
