Not having read the manga, I came to the conclusion that Hetalia could’ve been one of two things. It could’ve been sheer fangirl pandering or it could be a brilliant piece of satirical historical wit. Me being a bit of a history buff and someone who inherently loves any joke that is slightly dodgy and thought Ouran was a load of rubbish, you can guess what I was hoping Hetalia would be like.

Hetalia Axis Powers: Episode 1
“Houston, I think we reached the moon.”
“The idea of an elevator that could transport humans into space with ease has long been a fantasy of science fiction writers. However, a new form of carbon ribbon could actually make it possible.
Motivated by a $4 million funding prize from NASA, the team at Cambridge University developed a light, flexible ribbon that is believed to be the world’s strongest. Currently, the team is producing 1 gram of the material per day, enough to stretch to 18 miles in length. According to Alan Windle, professor of materials science at Cambridge, NASA wants 144,000 miles of the stuff—but he notes that it would take an industrial level of production to make that happen.
Still, this once preposterous idea is actually gaining some traction. The Japanese have already seriously considered making one out of carbon nanotubes and some believe that this new project could get the job done in as little as a decade. I’m not buying that—but I’m still keeping an open mind. [Times Online via io9]”

1g per day? Hmm…I am taking Materials science and engineering how tough it would be to iron out the imperfections at the atomic level but…I guess it’s still pretty far away from completion. Now where’ my gundam?
Btw, anyone still wants PSP Gundam 00?
My second and final batch of first impressions for this season. The only show left I kinda care about is Hetalia, and that’s been cancelled thanks to a group of whining Koreans. OK, a lot of whining Koreans. But enough of that, onto the actual post!
My Rating System Explained!
A = If you watch anything this season, watch this
B = Very good, sometimes surprisingly so.
C = If you have the time, you should check this out
D = Not my kind of thing, I won’t be watching this
E = Bad. Very bad, ignore this show
F = Frustratingly awful

A reflective post
As I start writing, I checked and realised it’s being exactly one month since I blogged a post. This post would somewhat be a public apology to especially Brian, Scamp and everyone else(if anyone really cared) for failing to blog. Yeah, I think it sounds stupid but I do value promises and I have broken many by not blogging.
At the start, I felt that blogging about anime or anime-related stuff is about sharing the good stuff that you enjoyed or, really really didn’t enjoy. Yes, some people do blog for the prestige or whatever weird reasons they have but ultimately, I’m sure blogging about anime is one of the ways to share about anime.
Over time, I realised that blogging about anime is akin to having a girlfriend. You love your first girlfriend but in time to come, you will find out that time and money has to be set aside for your girl friend and when it came down to making a decision, time and money might be too valuable to you, at that moment in time, to spare for your girlfriend and it’s time to break up. However, you may still love your ex-girlfriend and reconciliation is still an option since she is still your friend. I would safely say I am at this particular stage. I missed blogging but during the holidays…other activities were much too attractive. Now that school has started and with my previous semester of disastrous results, I would be hard press to set aside even a few hours per week to blog one episode of anime. However, this doesn’t mean I will stop blogging. Like I said, I made promises and I intend to keep them, to a certain extent.
I was supposed to blog about gundam 00 but it’s being KIV-ed for pretty long. My style of blogging gundam 00 wass pretty tedious and I would very much want to change it. The easiest option out is to give my comments of each episode or even do a summary of the whole season when it finishes. Brian, would you let me know what you think?

Taking a Sabbatical
I am not too sure about Loba but as for myself, I openly declaring that I’m taking a sabbatical on this anime blog. I’m entering a new semester for my undergraduate programme now and I’m getting busier than ever. Although it is very unlikely that I would ever be able to update anything but I’ll try my best to post something whenever opportunity presents itself. Hopefully Scamp can take of things for now. And hopefully we have another contributer to this blog soon to cover my absence. Anyone interested?
