What I Did Inside the Lab

Talk about rotten luck. I should not bicker though, since there are others who face more misfortune than I am. Just now, I have lost my room keys but thankfully my roommate was in the room. Now what I am worry about is that someone actually took the key and might take the opportunity to steal my belongings inside the room. I just hope I can trust the people here to be honest. While most science students are having scientific experiments of their own, the dietetic students (including myself) also have our very own approach in experimentations. Although the common idea for scientific experiments usually involves hazardous chemicals with state-of-the-art apparatus, ours on the other hand are quite simple. And like any other experiments, we also include chemicals and apparatus. The only difference is however, we can consume our experiment results. Oral consumption, to be exact. As you might figured, the dietetic students do cooking. However there is nothing fancy unlike those from the culinary school. Our cookings are much fundamental in terms of basic food preparations and applications. Never have I thought to have enjoy experiments so much as this one. Food tasting alone is not enough for this kind of experiments. We need to analyse those food we cooked and explain the principals involved, all written inside a report. All of the sudden, eating is no longer a simple task.Fortnight ago, we were asked to come up with our own breakfast recipe. My group managed to bring forth a quick fix – a club sandwich. Named as “USM Club Sandwich”, our sandwich is actually a tuna and egg sandwich. Initially we intended to use tuna and turkey but turkey was not available for our disposal. So egg was our final option. Nonetheless, from the nutrition aspect, the sandwich is quite nutritious and energy-laden that makes it suitable as a breakfast menu.

USM Club SandwichUSM Club sandwich is good for breakfast. This week, the recipe had been decided for us and now we need to work in pairs. My partner and I were given the task to cook “mi goreng basah” or wet fried noodle. Unfortunately it was not even close of getting wet and the noodle was too soft for my palate. What’s worse is the overwhelming taste of garlic – and I hate garlic! Despite of this, the meal was not too bad after all.

Darker Than Black (Episode 16)

As the story progresses, the contractors featured for each coming episodes are getting better (obviously) and some are with cool powers. Maki for instance has the ability to explode any object which he had touched. And of course there is Amber. Also the involvement of yet another organisation (apart of the intelligence agencies and the Syndicate) spiced up the plot. Somehow the episodic plot is all too apparent and it seems to me that the story has finally shown some light to the uncertainties. I can’t really predict the story but I do might be able to figure out how will the story goes from now on. The issue here is whether the story will keep me interested with the series or will it wilt out from the limelight? For now, I am impressed of the writers to be able to keep the viewers entertained even after the touchy (personal) episodes 13 and 14 featured on Yin.

Darker Than Black
The highly sought-after treasure – the meteor fragment.

The recent development at the Astronomy Division when the Stargazer began to speak has hinted the possible incident of the South American Gate disappearance to repeat itself in Tokyo and this pushed the authorities from various departments to take action, including imposing night curfews. Meanwhile Yin woke up to find herself with on Amber’s lap with Amber holding the meteor fragment. Mao and Hei inspected the tobacco shop where Yin was, only to find her missing. Hei found a letter from Amber and read it. He quickly scrambled off after reading the letter’s contents but Huang came in time to pick him up. At the same time, Kanami informed Misaki about what had happened inside the Astronomy Division even though she was not authorized to do so. Also she had speculated that the recent bombings are retaliating accords of the intelligence agencies involved, though Misaki suspected something else. While on her way, she spotted July walking alone. Approaching him, July told her that November asked him to see her in case of an emergency. Misaki gotten worried about November and asked him to take her there as he had put his comrade on his line. Misaki was startled of how July referred November as his comrade (friend, whichever nakama would be translated. Back to Hei inside the car, Mao asked Hei about Amber. Suddenly he responded to Huang instead, telling him to stop the car.

Tagging is Rubbish

Thanks to that worthless being in the universe Uje, I am posting this needless entry. You know, those kind of post where you were tagged by others to list down or write the acquired task, then you tagged others to pass down the list so that it will be continuous. Similar to those chain mail crap. Normally I click the DEL button for that. But there is no DEL button when it comes to blogging. And sure I can ignore it. But I’m a nice guy. Uje had just lost his manhood and now I’m sharing his pain. So here goes.5 things I found in my bag:Note book + Writing pad + Folder + Today’s lecture notes + PDA iPod Pendrive5 things I found in my wallet:Money (duh!) + Student matrix card + ATM card + Driver’s license + MyKad a.k.a. useless piece of crap5 favourite things in my room (my current room at the dorm):Laptop (cannot live without them) + A stack of magazines from various titles + My roommate’s electric kettle (need it for my coffee) + My new cool belt + My digital camera5 things I’ve always wanted to do:Travel the world, hopefully with Nicole 🙂 + Ride onboard the Airbus 380 + Reach Mount Kinabalu’s summit (I’m planning to go with my brother) + Meet a celebrity blogger and befriending him/her + Buy an iPod nano5 things I’m currently into:Darker Than Black and Claymore (both are anime titles) + My blog (hence anime blog) + Starbucks Coffee + iPhone + XBox 360 (I need it for Metal Gear Solid 4)Again, I am a nice guy and I’m trying my best to be nice. Don’t worry, I’m not tagging everyone who is reading this. Instead I’m tagging all those on the “They Want to Blog” list on the right. Now better starting listing it down. Or is it that you don’t have the balls to get the job done? If you really don’t have any balls (the girls I mean), just be nice like me and do the friggin’ list.

Darker Than Black (Episode 15)

This will mark the 100th post of my blog in WordPress. After nearly 10,000 hits later, this accidental anime blog of mine is receiving quite a support especially in recent days. I extend my gratitude for the readers’ support and hopefully with your help, I can improve better. Now what should I do to celebrate this? Thinking of cheese cake already.

The subtitled version of episode 15 which I have is not so good, leaving out some untranslated lines. Nonetheless this did not hindered me from reviewing. For starters, a whole different story begins to unfold – hinting the disappearance of the Gate in Tokyo. This disappearance will also cause the nearby area to disappear as well. With the involvement of another organisation and also the CIA and MI-6, the developing crisis is brewing quite a chaos. This particular development of the story really gotten me more interested with the story. Although much of the mysteries in the story including Hei’s past are relatively unknown, the writers kept on feeding curiosity to viewers with this revelation. What’s more, Amber is finally being introduced. Her significance is to the extend of revealing about Hei’s past and also the Syndicate that she used to work with. And finally the MI-6 agents returned. Among the featured characters, I like November and his team the most and this episode is living up to my expectation. Let’s just hope that they won’t be bringing back Gai and Kiko into the story.

Darker Than Black
“Do you want to taste this body of mine?”

April left the host club, feeling rather disappointed with the hosts who accompanied her. Outside she saw a blond girl (Amber) with a young boy who has mismatch-coloured eyes. She rushed to get to chase her but the two left by taxi. At the same time, she called November 11 to confirm the target as February. Taking another taxi, she tried to follow them but the taxi exploded along with her inside. What an explosive start! Later on, November reached the hospital where April was treated. Fortunately April survived and is in a stable condition. Later they went to the rooftop of the hospital (July is there as well) as his superior began to query November about the incident. November still have the matter investigated and then his superior explained that Amber was a double agent who feeds information about the Gate to the organisation she served for. Due to this, the UK lost its advantage to do researches on Contractors. However what his superior is concerned about is February’s appearance that coincides with the Great Dark Spot cycle. So capturing her will be November’s top priority for now. At the observatory of the Astronomy Division, Kanami explained about the Great Dark Spot as a phenomenon taking place every several years and is the largest class of sunspot. The astronomers are still clueless about the Great Dark Spot but Kanami was certain that five years ago, the same phenomenon occurred and the Gate in South America vanished.

School Days (Preview)

Ah! The high school life. All those puppy love that is all too innocent. Oh yeah! All too familiar scene of boy meets girl. But it won’t be something like Romeo x Juliet. Definitely no. School Days centralized on the nostalgic life of the high school years although from what I observe, the setting seems to be actually a middle school, not high school. From the surface, the scenario introduced here is a typical love triangle when a boy likes a girl and the two gotten together with a help of another girl. The girl who brought them together is actually in love with the boy and yet the boy is too ignorant to notice it. From what I can interpret from this is that the boy is one lucky SOB! Two cute girls are willing to get laid with him and yet he was so clueless with the other and felt awkward with the other instead. Well I am not encouraging the guys to be two-timers but to advise them to stay loyal and stick to your committed partner instead, all that I am saying is that the scenario of the story is similar to something that we are all familiar with.

School Days
School Days

The opening scene begins in a school where a male high student named Itou Makoto checked out his name on the class list distribution and that is when she noticed a cute looking girl who shares the same train ride to school with him. All this while of getting to know something about her (just those petty stuff), he began to have a crush on her. Yet he never tried to talk to her. That is when he took a picture of the girl he admired – Katsura Kotonoha, using his mobile phone. The belief about this mobile phone charm is that if you keep a picture of someone you like as the wallpaper inside your mobile without anyone knowing it, your love will come true. Now, now, if only Neo Verona uses mobiles, then Romeo should keep one for Juliet so eventually they will together. Back to the story, Makoto was casting doubt about this mobile charm and wanted to delete the picture already. Not until someone (this someone is a girl anyway) saw the picture inside his mobile. Not only he was caught in the belief for this mobile charm (which is kind of cute and innocent, if you know what I mean), his secret crush was know to that girl as well. This girl is actually Saionji Sekai, Makoto’s classmate who sits next to him in class.

Romeo x Juliet (Episode 14)

I know that I am running late with my reviews lately but I vowed to keep up with more updates soon. It was fortunate for me to have an extra day for my weekend and this allows me more free time to spare – at least some time to do my reviews. I have a couple of new anime titles to work on, in which I will give my verdict and of course, Darker Than Black episodes 15 and 16. Putting those aside, Romeo x Juliet is surprisingly improved its plot as it begins with a new chapter. Not much for Juliet this time but Romeo is facing new obstacles ahead of him and more truth unknown to him would be revealed. I can’t say this could be my favourite episode in the series but it is definitely one of the good ones that makes you wanted to see more of this story. As we all know, Romeo and Juliet is having quite a persistent relationship and no one is able to stop them. It is good to know that bloodshed is not necessary to make up for a good story all the time.

Makeover?

Finally, the popular demand for Darker Than Black is getting onto the fansubs to get things working. Although the subbers are anonymous, I must say that I appreciate their job – despite their bad subs (but it’s better than to have none). However from this experience, the lesson ought is to learn Japanese.

I’m making slight changes to the blog – in case you didn’t noticed. This includes a brand new blog statistics. Basically my blog stats would reset back to zero. Just to keep the record straight, I’ll keep the default statistics for another week before I make a total transition to the new blog stats. Another cool feature I’ve added is the statistics map, which tell me and the readers where are the other readers originate from. Don’t worry, this is not CIA. No pin-point location is given. But still, it is a cool feature. Also more initiative buttons were added. Do please check those out – and I’m not doing this as an advertisement.

Another matter is this blog’s new name. I am aware that this blog has gone several changes in its name – from Life’s Never Normal to Chronicles by Brian (err… just 2 changes). However I’m making this final. Presenting BrianAndrew – my personal space on the web. Hopefully when I get my own domain, I would rename it (again) to BrianAndrew.net (unless there are sponsors, I’m taking it all).

Devil May Cry (Episode 4)

The story is getting more senseless and meaningless. It is no surprise to know that Devil May Cry equals pure adrenaline action but not this bland. It is simply about killing demons, killing more demons, a little of humour and killing even more demons. Stupid, if I must say. No wonder this anime has such a small fanbase. But the writers managed to excite the viewers a bit on the introduction of Trish into the story. However her introduction is not so promising. In fact the whole story lacks potential.

Devil May Cry
When a demon kills, heads will roll.

A man was running away from a demon when Lady came to rescue him. Then more demons appeared. Suddenly the demons were killed by a lightning shock. It turned out that the lightning came from a lady. Lady recalled about a priest who told her about a demon who can manipulate lightning. Hei? Not exactly. Figuring that she is a demon, Lady decided to kill her. However the lady gotten her outfit spoiled and managed to run away from Lady. At the Devil May Cry building, Lady came to see Dante and asked him about the demon whom she met last night. It gotten interesting when Dante came to know that the female demon has lightning powers and shoots with two guns. Patty came in as Lady made her leave. As always, she made unreasonable demands to Dante – to buy her new clothes of the latest trend. After the argument, Dante looked at the photo frame he have which has the picture of a lady. No brainer here, it is safe to assume (or speculate, easier said) that the lady in the picture is the same with the one Lady had encountered earlier.
