Thoughts on Mobile Suit Gundam 00 The Movie: Awakening of the Trailblazer screening in Singapore

If you are singaporean, for pete’s sake, DON’T WATCH IT unless you can be like my friend and I where we just freaking lol-ed at most scenes and well, face-palmed. This will be a brief, disoriented, midnight mishmash cooked spoiler free thoughts of the movie.

Fall Season Preview 2010

Due to some changes on our writing team, I’ve been asked to produce the 2010 Fall Season Preview. …You can tell the team’s desperate to get this done and up when they ask me of all people to do it. So bear with me people, and please: be nice. My sources include Google (always a good starting point if not tiresome to filter through), Chartfag’s Den of Lesbian Enterprise, Anime News Network, Anime Paper, and your site. Yes: yours.

Our Guest contributor this time around is FlareKnight from Xebek’s Blog. It was a pleasant surprise for me that he’s agreed to lend us his thoughts for this Preview; I’ve personally had the joy of ranting about Ookami Kakushi with him a couple of seasons ago, and from that I know he’s a good guy.

GIANT KILLING episode twenty-four

OH DAMN OH DAMN OH DAMN I cannot express how much I look forward to every episode each week.  After last week’s cliffhanger, it is finally revealed that Akasaki scored and the score is now at 1-2 in favor of the Osaka Gunners, but now the tide has turned.   Natsuki still looks like he’ll be useless for a while (I’m expecting that he’ll score one of the two goals coming up for ETU in the next two episodes) but I do hope that Sera scores and overcomes his goal draught.  Then again, I want Tsubaki to score since he really deserves Man-of-the-Match for this game,  Ahhh screw it, I hope ETU wins 10-2 in the end.  Here’s to hopeful wishes.

A funny thing happened to me t0day – I was playing in a practice game with a team that my team would play against in the league, and I made this awful tackle on the striker.  It was intentional since it was obvious that he would score, but with no referees I had nothing to lose.  Anyways, I got into this whole fight with him since he over-dramatized his pain but our captains split us apart and that was that.  He had shouted “I’m going to f* score on your face!” to which I reply “Hitting my face isn’t a goal!”, but it turns out that his team had been winning 5-0 and 6-0 wins up to now, whereas we have been scrapping 2-1, 3-0, and a lucky 1-0.  I immediately thought of Coach Tatsumi, and how possibly my game could turn out to be like ETU’s encounter with Nagoya or more recently, Osaka.  Where’s Tsubaki when you need him…

HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD episode ten and eleven: HOTD meets HOTD

Out of every misleading opening, the one for this episode had to rank somewhere in the middle.  That’s why none of you should be complaining that you were mislead to think that Rei would let Takashi do her in an “alternate” version from the manga.  I’ve watched this episode a couple of times in order to find any attempts at Madhouse’s slips that they throw in to reveal any future manga that they would animize (v. invented by SPIRAL: “to make an good anime out of a really good manga”).  The opposite would be to hinamize (v. also invented by SPIRAL: “to make a crappy anime out of a good manga”; word originated from Love Hina).

It seems that my, and many other blogger’s theories (although I claimed dibs on it), will stand correct as the final four episodes have still to come and our high schoolers have found themselves just adapting to a settlement and a safe haven away from the chaos outside the gates.  Since we’ve all been dealing with physical conflicts, it’s now time to address the issues that dwell inside some of our friends, namely Saya Takagi.  We all know that she comes from a very powerful and rich family, but problems still seem to come up, even in the conflicts of a zombie apocalypse.  The title is a play on Highschool of the Dead and its actual acronym, House of the Dead, since our heroes find themselves on an estate that very much reminds us of the first game in the series.

k-on!! episode twenty-four: finale

While there are two confirmed extra episodes to follow Episode 24, this is, in many ways (if not in every way), the end of K-On. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get emotional during this episode, and not just because I love this series so deeply, but because as a last episode, it was excellent.

Hyakka Ryouran Samurai Girl first impressions

From the people who made the whole Queen’s Blade franchise, I really couldn’t expect something initially entering this series.  The first of the fall season arrived super-early and has left me panicking to quickly make a decent version of Bokutachi’s traditional seasonal previews.  Expect that to come soon but more importantly, you should be worrying whether or not this show would be fun to watch.  Yes, despite the unusual artwork that they clearly spent thousands on (*cough cough*), I found the first episode to be interesting maybe because I’m getting into the whole feudal Japan-thing recently (in fact, I’m considering doing a review on ‘Sengoku Rance’ once I get the time).

Despite the whole feudal Japan thing, there were planes in that beginning sequence but I guess that the whole plane-fighting thing and falling from the sky slicing everything apart was something to come in the future.  The whole series would revolve on how those girls came together to form that indestructible female-force.  The opening was catchy but nothing special.  However that’s a good thing considering how many shows have had really weird openings lately.

Amagami SS episode eleven

Same things, same complaints, and same wonderings.  I normally say in this paragraph how the different arcs compare with each other in terms of where they stand in relationships but I guess we don’t need to here the same things.  Let’s get to the plot.  Like now.

Ookami-san episode eleven

And it looks likely the end is approaching!  With the kidnapping of Ryouko and everyone in Otogi either being in panic mode or being chased by Hitsujikai’s delinquents, it seems that the finale of this series is inevitable with what looks like the perhaps the final showdown between Hitsujikai and Ryoushi over Ryouko’s love.  I’m not too sure how many episodes this series is supposed to go until but after finishing the episode, I could argue that twelve would be perfect, and the last episode commits itself to elaborating over Ryouko and Ryoushi’s relationship with each other.  I really hope they do decide to become a couple, but I’ve said that a billion times already.

Of course, if the show is thirteen episodes than anything can happen in the last two episodes, given that it’s a two-parter (or two fillers, your choice).  I’m slightly disappointed that we didn’t get to see the whole ‘the Three Little Pigs’ movie-thing being played out and I don’t expect them to play any part of that since we did see the brothers on  the side of Otogi Bank this episode.  It seems that everyone important comes up in this episode as we prepare to head towards the finale.
