Hetalia Axis Powers episode 8

I would like to take a minute to step back from my computer and applaud Hetalia for being hilarious again.

*clap clap clap clap clap*

I assume the box is meant to say that. I wonder if the Japanese fully understand it's meaning

When was Hetalia last this funny? I think it was Italy’s song about Germany way back in episode 3/4.  It was such a simple formula, having Italy being captured over and over again but what it shows is what Hetalia is best at, which is just making it’s characters piss around with each other and occasionally throwing in a Historical reference.

I only realised in this episode that this guy is England

A problem I’m beginning to realise with this anime is it seems to assume to might have read the manga already. I would’ve put that down to the fact that it’s aired only on the Internet and therefore only Hetalia fans would actually watch it (plus anime nerds like myself who want to watch every new show every season). But that theory falls flat when you remember that Hetalia was only cancelled come the start of January. It means I’m still slightly lost and many of these characters have as yet to be introduced properly.

NOOO! Not Italy! How could you ever shoot something as harmless as Italy

BTW what the hell is going on in Chibitalia? I only found out from a friend of mine who’s a Hetalia fangirl that the little fellow is meant to be the Holy Roman Empire and not England or Germany. Or mabye he is Germany and they are the same person? I really have no idea and the only thing that gets me through the Chibitalia without getting annoyed is how CUTE chibi Italy is.

And I’ll just finish off with some stupid screencaps

Ah, The Holy Roman Empire is not a part of Italy, it’s a seperate country that was based off Rome or something like that. In the anime(? I don’t think nearly as much as the manga..) & manga he chased around Italy telling him to become one with the Roman Empire.
But the Holy Roman Empire is neither England nor Germany, so. o.o

Hm, I guess for people that haven’t read the manga it’s probably hard to remember all the way from the first episode who the characters were, but yeah, “the guy who can’t cook” is England. [/England is my favorite, so.]

The HRE (Holy Roman Empire) is a loose association of states that, in the long run, becomes for the most part Germany (and some of Austria I think). Like Prussia, it no longer exists today (obviously) but was big and powerful during its prime. It was started by the Romans (hince the name) during the high point of the Roman Empire, who went up into Europe and took control of much of Europe, spreading their language and power, but later it fell apart and it’s countries became seperate (it became seperate with the Italian states and Rome quite early on).

Long winded explination, but that’s pretty much it. Though I have to admit, I’m not a big fan of Chibitalia either (show us more of the other characters plz!)

THANK YOU kunikochan! My history is very shady around that timeframe. I know Prussia comes in later and, to be honest, I know next to nothing about that country either. But I doubt it would help much in making chibitalia that much funnier
