Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? of the Dead – Episode 1 – 3

Yet again, we continue the “Better than Never” theme in Bokutachi no Blog. Also, I hope you guys and gals enjoyed 4/20 and your puff of weed yesterday.

Back to the subject

The return of Kore wa Zombie desu ka? only means one thing: The return of not just quality fan service but THE fan service. Quite literally may I say.

I’ll be damned if that wasn’t a pun from the part of the producers

It should also allow me to get what I want:

More Tentacle Rape!
Or at least, pseudo-tentacle rape.

A bit  of recap

Ayumu Aikawa is a highschool student… a Masou Shoujo and a zombie who lives with the necromancer Eucliwood Hellscythe, the loli masou shoujo Haruna and the busty vampire ninja Seraphim. Think that’s a lot for a harem? In school, he has to deal with 3 more harem members. One is Seraphim’s vampire ninja boss, Serasvati, who fell in love with Ayumu’s butt in the OVA. Another girl is a Ramen-eating vampire ninja from another clan and Ayumu’s pseudo-fiancée, Tomonori. The other is a normal human being, called Taeko.

Whoever made this forgot Taeko.

To Season 2

In season 2, Ayumu has to deal something much dreadful than animal monsters in school uniforms (Megalos) trying to rape his ass. He has to deal with the fact that everyone in the world knows that he’s a Masou Shoujo… and a pervert, of course. But instead of being the subject of humiliation, he’s now become a national gender bending superstar and a perverted internet sensation.

If Fred became famous for being obnoxious, then sure why not.

Being the only human being that isn’t an Aikawa fan, Kanami can be considered as the ONLY normal person in this series’s world. Though, that normality could easily be cancelled out if she becomes, what I expect her to be, Orito’s future girlfriend. In a way, the notion of her being normal is flawed in the first place. Point is: no such thing is normal in this series, no exception. That’s legit as any Chuck Norris memes. Anyway, seeing how gay Orito has become towards Ayumu in episode 3, I think Kanami could be a good final boss for Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka? in the future light novels to come. God knows how much anime seasons it would require to reach the end, if such a thing exists. Twitter Hashtag: #ThaiGoneMadAgain

  • “The art of murder”… wonder who could have looked for something like that. *cough* Sera *cough*
  • Tentacle Rape, Hentai, Porn… Those are the main keywords that would probably link you to that video. I’m sure they were all looking for something to fap to, but, instead, they found this.

All this mess happened because Mystletainn broke, thus preventing Ayumu to erase memories. I assume that Mystletainn broke because  Ayumu got too cute too many times in season 1. Oh yeah, the chainsaw died in episode 3. Oh my, a character died. That’s almost as surprising as the fact that he was even a character. Anyway, he had the voice of an old sage and he was the only one that wasn’t a male pervert. Can you feel the irony?

With Mystletainn dead, there shouldn’t be anymore gender bending from Ayumu and naked loliness (if what I wrote made any sense) from Haruna, which is a bit sad but also necessary as “It’s not a kick!” and “You’re getting cuter!” are no longer funny in my opinion. The series is dropping old running gags for new ones. Per example, there’s the curse dance! That one had me shitting my pants.

We also have a new character, whom Ayumu calls Yosei-san (Miss Fairy). Her characteristic is that she’s a drunk loli, who lurks in the science lab because she needs a chemistry material to grill squid and to heat her alcohol in a beaker. She’s supposedly a figment of Ayumu’s imagination, but who’s gonna believe that? Everyone knows that Ayumu’s head is filled with a gazillion kawaii imoutos and Yosei-san ain’t one. It also will be interesting to know what kind of creature she is. Vampire Ninja? Masou Shoujo? A fairy?

Never thought I’d see puke that colorful.

The new opening, “***Passionate” (WTF is up with that title?), is pretty similar to Season One’s “Ma・Ka・Se・Te Tonight” both sung by the same artist, Iori Nomizu. I have a hard time distinguishing the two songs from each other.

Rie Yamaguchi also comes back for the ending of Of The Dead. Though this time, her song, “Koi no Beginner Nan Desu (T_T)” (Does the title even need a smiley?), actually sounds differently than “Kizuite Zombie-sama, Watashi wa Classmate Desu” (I never downloaded this song, because the title is such a pain in the ass). First season’s ending had Haruna and Eu dancing in the silliest way possible while Ayumu is dying under the sun. If you’ve noticed, Season Two’s ending is actually a sequel to that! Dried Ayumu is now dreaming about the 6 harem girls trying to kiss him, but gets interrupted by a kiss from Orito which finishes him off. It’s creepy to even think that Orito will be part of Ayumu’s harem. However, if the ending was a prelude to Orito turning gay, then maybe it’s a sign that Taeko actually has a chance to end up with Ayumu. Clearly I haven’t read the light novels to know that.

The “I’ll turn you into (Insert whatever)” preview segment has replaced for something much more creative and much more cute, that is the Delusion Eu segment. Basically, every Delusion Eu that appeared in Of The Dead gathers together to talk about their beloved Onii-chan, Ayumu, with Original Eu serving as a tsukkomi. By the end of the series, we’ll have 10-12 Delusion Eu’s ready to annoy Original Eu. Can’t wait for that.

Harem meter

Official Harem members:

  • Haruna (Tsundere)
  • Eu (Kuudere)
  • Seraphim (Cute to death)
  • Yuki aka Tomonori (Tomboy)
  • Taeko (Normal)
  • Sarasvati (Butt Love)

The ones I want to ignore, but yaoi fans will love to see:

  • Orito (semi-official)
  • Anderson-kun (unofficial)

The unofficial ones:

  • Dai-sensei (She seems the type to like them young)
  • Kyouko (She shall be conquered!)
  • Miss Fairy (It’s her destiny!)

Kore wa Zombie Desu Ka? is not too far from Angel Tales’ harem squad that consists of 12 furries animals re-incarnated into human females (pseudo-furries).

In Conclusion (The part I’m being supposedly lazy and generic)

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of The Dead is as much hilarious as its predecessor. Ayumu’s butt is still in danger. Seraphim is still the cutest female character in the series, if not in the entire anime spring season (along with Tsumiki from Acchi Kocchi).  Creepy panty shots shall (not?) be missed, but (sadly?) new running gags such as gay Orito and drunk loli will replace them. Only time will tell which, between Ayumu’s panty shots and Gay Orito, is creepier. And Kyouko became the Ahegao girl, which will cause doujinshi artists to draw more Kore wa Zombie desu ka? mindbreak doujins. Oh my, what has this series done?!

Best…Show…Ever! At least, that’s the exaggeration of an insane human being.

Oh, wow. There’s a second season of this. I actually quite liked the show. Is it being simulcast, or fan translated?

Funimation has the rights for Kore wa zombie desu ka?, but they haven`t started simulcasting it yet. I really don’t know what they are doing at this point. And yes, there are fansubs for this show. Hadena and Commie are the main fansubbers.

That being the case, it’s a shame that Crunchyroll didn’t keep the rights to the show. They did a good job of it in season one. By the looks of things, Funimation has really dropped the ball dragging their heels like this. Then again, I’ve never been too fond of their simulcasting.

Yeah, I have to say that this season is pretty funny as well. Still, one thing I don’t get, is why Dai-Sensei/Ariel even needs to interrogate Kyouko. How hard could it be to simply paralyze her and rip the information from her mind? If she did that, then Kyouko has no more value to her or anyone else.

She’s the teacher of hundreds of millions of Masou Shoujo’s; surely pulling out the desired information is 100% effortless.

She knows Kyouko is pure evil and is a lost cause, so why not get what she wants, and simply finish her off? It can’t be that hard.
