Kimi no Iru Machi 91: Just Like What He Did for Me (+ Extra Chapter!)

After a somewhat surprising yet stale recent chapters, I looked at the scan not knowing what to expect.  That, of course, can be overturned by Haruto’s new faith that Eba was lying to him and his desire for a direct confrontation.  From the beginning of the chapter when Haruto meets his ex to the end, we have a chapter that is the turning point and why we love this series so much.

Initially the chapter starts where we left off – Haruto going to meet Eba.   It turns out that Eba is going out with Haruto’s friend because that guy only has a year left to live.  Surprising to hear it, yet unsurprising in the whole spectrum of events.  As soon as Haruto gets home, he runs into Kiwashima who asks where he’s bee.  It’s then Haruto asks her a “hypothetical” question of whether or not he should chase after Eba or not.  I don’t know why Kiwashima blushed in the middle and went all tsundere on us (well yes, it’s obvious that she likes Haruto).  Regardless, she’s smart enough to realize the situation.  Obviously, I will kill her if she goes on Kazama’s side.

Haruto marches into the hospital and declares war with Kazama over Eba.  YOU GO, HARUTO! Wow, I made that shrewd joke that Haruto should just screw KAzama over and get Eba back, but I was actually right.  On the more serious side, I hate to see the friendship break but then again, I want Haruto with a girl again, and why not let it be the girl he’s been chasing for the last 10000000+ chapters?  In the end, he’ll probably get the girl pregnant so they can marry in the series finale (Suzuka reference).  But then again, I’m always up for a Haruto x Kiwashima path, even though it’s bound to end in failure since Eba is supposedly the “main heroine” of the series.  Kouji-san!  Haruto deserves someone better than Eba!

Extra: Yuna

At least he gave us a special chapter.  So basically what this chapter is a “fun” chapter that Seo made after Suzuka before Kimi no Iru Machi.  Now,  I don’t know about you but I loved Suzuka and I saw a lot of its elements here in this 44-page chapter.  Now before I start my review on this chapter, here’s the translated message from Seo Kouji himself.  “I experimented with new character designs that I would use in Kimi no Iru Machi.  I’ll be happy if any of the characters here you think can be a main character in Kimi no Iru Machi.”

I don’t know how any of these characters would relate to anyone from either Suzuka or Kimi no Iru Machi but it was actually a good cheesy short love story on its own.  From initially hating Yuna, our main hero falls in love with her in the end after short conflicts with himself and a series of dates.  Good story, but completely unrelated to Kimi no Iru Machi in almost every way possible, other than Yuna slightly ressembling Kiwashima.  Anyways, here are a couple of the good shots that show the goodness of this story.
